Our journey finally begins. Lilly, Brelear and I all ride in the carriage knowing the sun will be up soon. I was able to get some of the seamstresses to sew some thick black curtains. They fit on the window perfectly.
One of my guards drove the carriage. While Eric rode his horse. We had the two extra horses tied to the back. We had to travel to the South Eastern realm, which meant heading east. Most of the South Eastern area was covered with forest.
We traveled most of the day and stopped during the evening to rest and eat. I couldn't understand why Lilly suggested we bring a guard with us. Until we all stopped for the evening.
She sat next to him and looked into his eyes. She tells him, “Don't scream, and don't move. This will be over in a minute.”
I watch eyes wide, as she bites down into his neck. I can see blood dripping past her mouth down his neck. After a few moments, she pulls away and licks the blood off his neck.
Then she takes one of her fingers and presses it against one of her fangs. She puts her blood on his neck. I watch as the wound heals itself.
“You can move now, forget about what just happened.” She tells him.
She gets up and sits next to me, being careful not to touch me. We both are quiet as the rest of us eat. When we finish, we all set up our bedrolls and head to bed for the night. Lilly stays up to keep guard.
I fall asleep watching her standing in one spot not moving. She softly hums an old song. My eyes close slowly.
I wake up to something being tossed at me. “Brena wake up. We must go. It's almost dawn.” Lilly tells me while gently throwing another pebble at me.
I open my eyes and get up. I go to the stream nearby and wash my face. We pack everything and head out again. Brelear, Lilly and I sit in the carriage.
I look at Lilly, “Did you have a hunter go after you?”
She looks at me her face curious, “Yes, while Eric and I were in the woods. It was strange though.”
“What was strange about it Lilly?” I ask.
“He seemed familiar to me. Not just because I have been hunted before. There was something about him. I felt like. Like I knew him.” She tells me.
“Well didn't you know a hunter back in the day?” I ask getting more curious.
She nods and answers, “Yes, at first I thought it was him, so I spared his life. But now. I don't know there is something about him. I do know for a fact he was sent by the witches. He couldn't control what he was doing. I could tell he didn't want to though.”
“Great, so now we have a hunter we have to deal with on top of witches,” I say shaking my head with a sigh.
Lilly smiles, “We can do this Brena. I know we can. We will take these curses and use them to our advantage to break them.”
I smile at her. She's right and I know that. The next few days passed by with no problems. It was on the fourth day that things got interesting...
