Chapter Two

1005 Words
Jessy At the lobby of the Valecruz company, sits a massive portrait of Mr Hermen Valecruz and his Seventeen year old son and heir to his empire, Jessy Valecruz. Jessy stands like a younger copy of him, wearing a Versace custom made suit, smiling, looking very handsome, confident and smart. The Valecruz empire stretches across the city. Their shopping mall dominates the skyline, their hotels sit in every major district, and their luxury cars roll out of massive factories stamped with the family name. Selling car parts was also one of their numerous businesses that they owned, shipping to all parts of the World. In a country where wealth speaks loudly, the Valecruz name is one of the loudest, and Jessy is the one everyone knows will inherit it all. At every company gala, his father pulls him forward, announcing, “Meet the future of Valecruz”, employees nod in respect when they see Jessy walk by, even though he’s only seventeen. Very soon I’ll need you to start attending board meetings with me Jess, knowing the in and out of the company is beyond attending galas and fancy events, what goes on in the board room is what makes this company what it is. Sitting in and watching how big decisions are made is something the next CEO should be familiar with. I’m not taking over the company right now am I Dad, an already irritated Jessy said. It’s hard enough to wear this tux whenever you want me to, but now you want me to sit down in boring meetings. I think I’ll pass on that offer for now Dad, slamming the door of the car as he walks out heading for the front door of their mansion. Jessy comes from a small family, His Father who is the CEO and highest share holder in the Valecrus enterprise , his Mother and Two younger sisters. Jessy is the ideal son, cute and smart, he has a broad face, very fair in complexion with fine dentition that could be mistaken for having veneers. He attends Eden High school, and has been classmates with Mia since grade 4. His Father is one of the major contributors to the school. The vice-principal forces a smile and greets him with, “Good morning, Mr. Valacruz,” even when Jessy barely nods back. Teachers step aside when Jessy walks past the hallways and are eager to help him with any school work he finds difficult, paying utmost care to his needs. They speak to him cautiously, choosing every word carefully. As the captain of the hockey team, he gets a lot of attention from girls. In the hallway, at the cafeteria, through the window at his class, the prying eyes never end. Jessy once took his teammates to the Nationals and won the games because of how talented he is as an athlete, but to him hockey has always just been a sport and a means to get extra credits and nothing else. He knows he’s the sole inheritor of his Fathers enterprise. Even with his Father having children outside of wedlock and always following different young ladies, he still remained his Fathers trophy. Jessy had never faced any difficulty or any form of abuse from his Father, but his Mother on the other hand was constantly abused by his Dad. His Mum always tried to hide this from her Children but as the eldest son and closest to his Mum, he could actually see all the scars behind her smile and all the silent tears she cried when she thought no one was watching..Jessy felt sorry for his Mum and had vowed that once the company is his, he’s going to have the board members completely vote out his estranged Dad from the company and so just has to hold out for a little while . At school, Cassie’s name travelled quickly, mostly because of her relationship with Jessy Valacruz. People called them the perfect match. The hockey captain and the cheer captain, the children of business partners, the pair who looked like they belonged at the center of a yearbook. It was like a match made in Heaven. Cassie Fernandez, his girlfriend, is a slim and perkish fair looking girl, she’s 16years old.. She lives with her Dad and step Mum. She was abandoned by her Mum as a child because her Mum struggled with drug addiction and even the countless rehab treatment her Dad paid for wasn't working. One day she got up and ran away, and wasn’t seen or heard from. That was the story she grew up hearing.. Her Dad remarried and she was raised by her step Mum. A nice and quiet lady who treated Cassie with so much love. In school, Jessy and Mia were one of the top students and were placed in the same class, while Cassie who is on a more average level was in a different class. Coming from a rich family you would think that Jessy would have a whole fleet of minions, but he didn’t, and had just one best friend Danny. Danny was a nerd looking kid, 17years and a math genius who wanted to be an astronaut. His Mother was the landlord of Mia and Lucy's home and this made Danny have a soft spot for Mia. Jessy always hated this and didn’t get why he would want to be of any help to Mia. Why is he always with her?” Jessy mutters when he sees Danny talking to Mia. It makes both of you look weird. He didn’t hate her but he didn’t want anybody he knew associating with her. Danny didn’t stop, and Jessy didn’t push it further. He just didn’t want anyone in his circle associating with people that didn’t fit the image he believed he needed to uphold. Jessy had other rich and troublesome friends who he hung out with outside Danny but they were his teammates and as the captain he really didn’t have a choice.
