CHAPTER 23
Kaspian swiveled his head around as voices overlapped one another. The world was still cast in blurry shadows, but from what he’d gathered, Brygida had defeated the bies. A metallic stench clung to the air.
Arms outstretched, he stumbled toward the direction of the voices.
“The monster is transforming!” an unfamiliar voice shouted from behind him.
He spun toward it. “What’s going on? Stefan? Brygida?” He held out his hand, desperate for someone to take it, to guide him. A strong forearm met his palm.
“It’s Lady Rubin,” Stefan said before clearing his throat, “and she’s, um, naked…”
Mama, alive? His heart lightened as he clutched Stefan’s sleeve. “Where is she? Bring me to her, please.”
