CHAPTER 11 Brygida followed Kaspian down the corridor toward the large hall where they’d celebrated Kolęda. He put his hand up, signaling for her to stop. They were to meet Stefan in the stable, with the supplies from the kitchen. The pack on her shoulders was weighed down with food and water that would last them several days. Mokosza willing, their hunt wouldn’t take that long. The last obstacle was getting past the rest of the household without raising suspicion. The myriad voices of the villagers within the main hall carried beyond its walls. What would the villagers do if they saw her? She could hold her own against them, but she didn’t want to fight them.
