18 Fudge Making It was too late to back out having already agreed. Lucy hoped her cheeks weren’t red enough to cause anyone temporary blindness as Mark led her into the shop, calling out as he did so. ‘Dan, we have a guest! Can you grab another apron?’ Inside, the shop was petite, with only room for a dozen or so people standing shoulder to shoulder to browse the various shelves loaded with an assortment of fudge-based confectionery and other local products, from packets of biscuits and shortcake to racks of postcards and pamphlet-sized local history books.
