Chapter 6

1516 Words
I still can’t believe it. That the car that I’ve been ogling was my boss’s car. Holy s**t! Is he that rich? And just damn! I’ll be riding in my dream car! Honestly, I’m a bit excited. Who wouldn’t? My excitement died the moment I entered the car. A heavy silence settled over us, thicker than the uneasy tension in the atmosphere. Now that I'm next to him, it's far easier to observe him discreetly as he drives the car. Instead of checking the car. I think I’m checking something else. Or I may say someone. To be exact. I shifted uncomfortably on my seat, and what Clary said a while ago, still ringing in my ear. That damn woman, why does she have to ask me like that anyway? ‘Don't you find him hot?’ My unsettled eyes glanced at my boss, and I found him so much more intimidating than I had expected. Observing his sharp jaw, chin, and cheekbones, dark brows, soft and attractive lips, down to his notch-lapel suit in a dark color-matched with a white shirt, a tie, and Oxford black leather shoes, he looks stylish in every way. Woah! Wait a minute. I don't want to stare long enough, this is getting so frustrating, "Crysler?" My mouth is almost too dry to speak. I nod like an i***t and then croaked out, "Yeah, boss?" I train my eyes to the scenery ignoring his perfume. Why does he have to smell that way? And why do I have to react like this? I am indeed in great confusion. “Staring is rude.” My eyes turned at him right away, bewildered. I cursed on my head. Did he see me checking him out? Damn it! “Who’s starring sir?” I lied. I saw a ghost of a smirk on his lips as he raised his brows to me. “Yeah. Who else would be staring at me, Crysler? Do we have another company inside the car?” “I’m not staring at you, Sir,” I said and looked away. He laughed a bit that made me curse myself on my head. “Yeah. I will just pretend that you’re not staring at me, Crysler.” Damn! Why does the way he says my name feels so different? After that, I pretended that I was sleeping. I leaned on the car’s glass window and closed my eyes. I sighed and tried to think. Why am I being like this towards him? This is really insane. I’ve been questioning myself for the past few days. And it’s scaring me. What would they say if they know that I’m feeling like this towards my boss? The worst, he is a man. My family. My friends. Especially my girlfriend. I felt like I’m cheating on her already. Lately, her calls and text don’t excite me anymore. I’ve been ignoring some of it, purposely. It’s like our relationship suddenly becomes dull to me. I know I still love her. But not the same as before. And I don’t know when it started. Maybe I do know when. I’m just afraid to accept it. The thought that it was his boss that made him like this is scaring him. Because he never felt this kind of feeling, even with Janice. “We’re here.” My boss’s voice made me open my eyes in an instant. I looked outside and saw that we’re already parked in front of Tong’s restaurant. I also saw Sir Light’s car parked beside my boss's car. I guess they’re already inside. I opened the door without talking or glancing at my boss. But I saw on my peripheral vision how he exited his car swiftly and ran his fingers on his hair, making it disheveled a bit. I almost gasped as I found it very sensual. I cursed and turned my back at him as I closed my eyes and tried to breathe evenly. Damn it! “Let’s go in. I’m famished,” My boss said that made me turn and face him. I plastered a serious face for him not to notice that I was affected by his presence. “Yeah. Me too,” I whispered as I licked my lower lip while looking at him. I saw how his eyes turned dark the moment we got eye contact. I shivered when I saw the lust in his eyes. And I’m afraid I’m mirroring it on mine as well. I heard him cursed as he turned his back to me and started to get inside the restaurant. I sighed in relief and followed him inside. As an ordinary employee, I can't think of any good restaurant which I could say they have the place where seafood lovers can go out there, finding an excellent taste of food and a nice ambiance. Tong's restaurant has my lucky exception today. Arriving at the place, it is small yet cozy, and its interior has dark wood hues and shades of furniture, country-styled hard wooden tables, and chairs. Everything here is what probably garnered my love of the place initially. And I don't mind taking my boss and other co-workers here. I love this place, and they let me choose which place anyways. The smell of the food welcomes me when I get in. I looked at where the food was, and I’m already salivating watching the baked scallops, shrimp and crab displayed on the food section. I was startled when someone tapped me on my shoulder. I saw Clary smiling as she dragged me towards our table. “You sit here, Crysler,” she said, making me sit beside my boss. Damn this woman. Why is she doing this?! I tried not to glare at her. She’s another pain in the ass. Since I don’t have a choice. I just sit silently beside my boss. I also don’t want to embarrass Clary nor make her think that I’m affected by what she did. “It’s already paid, guys. We can go and dig in right away,” she said as she sat in front of me. “Goodness! The smell of the food is making me famish,” she added while laughing. “Are they going to serve us, Clary?” Sir Light suddenly asked, c*****g his face to look at Clary beside him. “Oh no, Sir. We will get what we want there,” she said smiling while pointing at where the food was being displayed. “Then what are we waiting for?” It’s Dane who said while standing up. “Damn! I’m so hungry,” he said while holding his tummy. Amara, who is beside him, chuckled. “I’m also hungry, Dane. Let’s go get some food,” she seconded, standing up and both of them leave us and walk towards where the food is. I simply scanned my eyes to the other customer who is already eating while chatting. They’re just wearing simple clothes and looking at my boss and the others, they’re kinda over-dressed. Our bosses are still wearing their suits and they look so intimidating. Why did I even bring them here? Some girls on the other table also keep on looking at our table like we’re kinda celebrities. My brows furrowed. Jeez. “Aren’t you going to get some food?” My boss suddenly asked. He’s already standing beside me while looking down at me. I let out a fake cough before I stood up. Hey, what's the big deal of sitting beside our boss, anyways? I know to tense against the shaking of my knees is useless, but I need to calm down and ignore whatever my boss had said a while ago. I need to make him feel that I don't care about it -that it was nothing. Only when they start talking like old friends makes me forget the pressure and tension I am feeling now when we got back on our table with a lot of food, and one of them starts asking me a little bit personal as we start to eat. "So, Crysler, right?" Sir Light suddenly asked while taking off the skin of the shrimp. "Yes, sir," I said as I glanced at him for a bit and then back to my plate where I am currently cracking the shell of the crab. "Have any girlfriend?" He asked that caught me off guard. I tried to remember what Janice said to me. She told me not to tell them about my relationship with her because it may question my employment. She told them that I was her close friend and that's why I got hired. "No, sir," I lied. “Really?” Amara said as she turned to look at me. “You’re so good looking to not have one, Crysler,” she added and then giggled. I fake a cough and I saw how Clary rolled her eyes while looking at Amara. “Stop it, Amara. I thought you and Dane are dating?” Clary said while raising her brow. She made a face and then took a bite of the shrimp in her hand. I tried not to laugh because of her reaction. “I’m just complimenting him, Clary,” Amara said while chuckling. “And I’m not dating this guy,” she added with a frown as she points to Dane beside her. “Not yet, Clary,” Dane said while laughing.
