chapter 15

When I woke up I was confused, not knowing what happened to me. I felt pain all over my body, my vision was blur and then reality hit me. " OMG... I have been r***d!"...I thought starting to shift uncomfortably searching for any signs. I could not think, my head was hurting, and I was in horror thinking of what just had happened. Then all the sudden I felt some strong arms wrapping around me, trying to comfort me. I have heard a familiar voice..." Calm down little girl... calm down...you are safe"...and then he kissed my forehead. I drifted back into unknown, passing out. I woke up again but this time I was in a hospital ward. The vision wasn't blurry anymore, but the pain was even more. I shifted my gaze from the ceiling and then I saw Steve sitting on a chair beside my bed. He had some cuts and bruised on his face, his hair was messy, and the clothes were ripped. He still had some dried blood on the corner of his mouth. I stretched my arm towards his face and tried to wipe off the dried blood, but I was too weak to hold it up. He cupped my hand into his palms placing a soft kiss on my knuckles, smiling at me. " You are all right now little girl. Nothing happened to you."...he said looking into my eyes. I could feel the tenderness in his voice, the warmth in his eyes. I wanted to hug him, to brush my cheeks and bury my nose into his warm embrace. I blushed and mumbled almost breathless...." Thank you! " Three days have passed, and Steve was there with me all the time except the time he had to deal with his business. He made sure I had the best care possible, fresh drinks and proper food, not the one the hospital gives you. Ashton came daily too, bringing me fresh clothes, and kept me entertained. He was so funny when he wanted. They both cared about me to the point I was confused off why. The doctor came on the fourth day and said I could be discharged as there weren't major problems. I only had few bruises left and the pain. Emotionally, I already felt better thanks to both. I dreaded going back to my flat, but they insisted I should go back with them and live with them for a while. I could use the guest room for the moment. I agreed with them not wanting to be alone. I felt comfortable and protected around them. I did not want my mother to know as I didn't want to worry her. I decided not to tell her. Steve informed the police, and they were trying to catch the culprits. The police said it was a burglary and I was unfortunate to walk in the middle of it. I was already grateful to Steve that he barged in there and saved me. But why was he there in the first place?
