It was the end of November and I finally managed to move in.
My mom decided to join me for the winter as she did not have anything to do to
countryside that time of the year.
We celebrated Christmas at home, and we decided to go to party in the main square for New Year's Eve.
We had so much fun. I was too shy to party by myself, and she knew how to take me out of my shell. We even drank together a champagne. She was my best friend indeed.
But deep inside me I could not forget them. Deep inside, I was miserable. They were my core. I was just a happy shell for everybody else. I needed my core to be a whole again.
All I could do was to sigh and move on with my life.
Meanwhile, I received the timetables for my first semester, and I was able to find a job at COSTA.
I was supposed to learn to brew distinct types of tea and coffee for the beginning and I was supposed to learn all that in two weeks as my other colleague was pregnant, and she was due to leave for her prenatal in two weeks from now.
I was glad it was only 5 minutes' walk from my home or from UNI. It was somewhere in the middle. And my new working hours fitted me perfectly.
I also decided to change my looks. I cut my hair shoulder length and straightened it. I also opted to dye it black as I always liked black hair.
My mother barely recognized me that day. She was so shocked but soon she got used with it. She said it made me look older in her opinion but that does not mean I looked bad necessarily.
I looked more mature, more confident in myself; I didn't have that childish aura I used to have.
I was content with myself.
The school has started, and we were only twenty students in our group. Some of them were much older and with some experience in the field. I was new to everything.
I made a lot of new friends and I also started to hang out with them sometimes. They used to party a lot on Saturday's. I could not attend usually due to my work, but few weeks later I was on my day off and I decided to tag along with them. To relax a bit.
It was held at Olivia's house as her parents did not mind having a "bunch of kids" partying in their house. They even enjoyed the parties.
I could not say Olivia was my best friend, but I used to get along quite well with her.
She was very chatty, always cheerful and she liked to dance a lot. While I was more reserved.
" Come on It's time to party!"... She said grabbing me by my elbow and dragging me towards the middle of the room, while shaking her hips on the music.
" Is this your first-time partying?"... She asked raising her eyebrows in a questioning look.
" You need to relax more, life is too short to be missed!"...she said laughing while still shaking her hips on the rhythm.
"Come on..." she pulled me heading towards the table to get some drinks. I picked a glass and filled it with some orange juice as I wasn't so used with the alcohol's taste.
There were two men who appeared to be absorbed in a conversation. They did not notice us first.
She jumped and curled her arms against one's neck kissing him on his cheeks.
" Hello brother!... I missed you so much!"... she said happily, turning her head towards me.
" This is my friend EIana. " she said pointing at me.
" This is my long-lost brother Lucas. He doesn't bother visit us too often " ...she said pointing towards him, with a disapproving look on her face.
He looked at me stretching his arms towards me for a handshake.
I replied, our eyes connecting for a second. He was handsome, green eyes with chocolate hair and well build body. He was one head taller than me. His hand was so big, yet his handshake was soft. He holds my hand, a second more than it was supposed to, squeezing it softly.
I have heard that he was 30 years old and a dentist. Olivia liked to spill out everything about her family. She even told me about her brother's first crush.
Her parents were rich as they were both doctors. Olivia did not like to study too much that is why her parents forced her into nursing so she can work in their private clinic.
