Standing over the bodies, my pack and I were coming to terms with what had just happened. We had exposed ourselves. All because of that vermin, Gregor. I spat blood out of my mouth onto the lifeless body of Gregor and walked away towards the church. Entering the church, I saw my fathers coffin at the other end of the hall. He would be proud that I got revenge for him... but he would also be disappointed with me for what I had done. Revealing what we are to a few innocents we trusted, like my father, was okay. However, revealing ourselves to a large group of innocents who we barely knew was not good. They could expose us to the rest of the world which is exactly what they did...
"H?" I heard from behind me. Cameron came up to me and put his hand on my shoulder. Turning around I saw his sympathetic but also concerned expression. Cameron was a 'by the book' sort of person. He always followed rules and would always comply with a daily routine. He was similar to Isaac where we were a perfectionist, but he also had to do things the right way.
"I know... I know what I just did" Cameron's face fell as he knew it was me who caused us to get exposed. After a few seconds, his face turned sympathetic again.
"We," He said correcting me. I looked up and shook my head.
"No" Is all I could simply say. After a few moments, I continued, "I will not let you share the blame..."
He shook his head this time approaching me closer and saying,
"Brothers till the end remember" His words hit me like a truck as I flashed back to the past.
4 Years ago:
"CAMERON!" My voice boomed through the forest causing birds to panic and fly away. The snow on trees fell to the floor from how powerful my roar was. Off in the distance, I heard a scream back to me.
"Har" It was cut off, probably the villain muffling Cameron's attempts at shouting for help. My superhuman hearing, courtesy of my werewolf powers, didn't fail me. I heard his shout loud and clear before it cut off. I followed the direction of which it came. I was faster. I was stronger. I was unstoppable when it came to my friend's safety. No. My brother's safety. I was going twice as fast as the man who took my friend so I was easily able to catch up.
When I caught up to the two of them, Cameron was struggling in the grip of the huge brute. It turned to me with a glare that could surely kill. The creature before me was known as an Orcneas. Its translation from Old English literally means 'monster' and that's what he was. The Orcneas were large creatures, Incredibly muscular and could rip a tree from out of the ground using just its hands. I had only ever heard about the creatures in stories told by Cameron's father. Never did I think I would run into one, let alone have to fight one.
The Orcneas had taken Cameron on the command of a member of the supernatural order. This member was one of six members who all represented the supernatural creatures of the earth. The one who sent the Orcneas was the representative of all warlocks. This warlock was scheming and manipulative he wanted power and control. That is, of course, until Cameron's grandfather, the advisor to this evil warlock, revealed the warlocks plans to the other five members of the supernatural order. In order to get revenge on his grandfather, he sent this Orcneas to capture and torture Cameron. Obviously unaware that his best friend was a werewolf of course.
The Orcneas made the first move. He was clearly devoted to his job and I'm sure failure wasn't an option for him. He threw Cameron to the side. As Cameron had only been practising his magic defensively he didn't know a lot of attacking spells. I shouted at Cameron to cloak himself and let me deal with the Orcneas. He nodded towards me and disappeared into thin air. This obviously made the creature angry as he slammed his fist into a tree snapping it in half like a twig. Turning into my wolf, it was time for me to put to use the 6 months of training I had acquired. The creature was a lot bigger than me so I was not going to win strength-wise. My advantage was my speed and versatility. I could use the surrounding area to my advantage as well. While I was thinking, the Orcneas charged towards me waving its fists. The creature's legs were wide open so I could easily fit through. While I lunged through its legs I snapped at one of his ankles causing him to trip and fall. He landed on the ground with a massive crash, taking with him a couple of trees. I circled around and jumped onto one of the falling trees. Running along its trunk I was able to pounce up onto the creatures back. I snapped at him again, this time aiming for one of its ears. I Locked my jaw onto its ear and yanked with all my might. His ear came clean off and I spat it out. The Orcneas was clearly enraged as he jumped up throwing me backwards off of his back. I landed with a thud and before I could get up I saw the creatures massive fist slam down directly where I was laying. I closed my eyes and waited for the inevitable...
When it didn't arrive I opened my eyes. I saw a protective bubble around me blocking his fist. I looked to my right confused and saw as Cameron appeared uncloaking himself. I couldn't help but smile at my best friend... no brother... who saved my life.
"Over here you big, ugly, dickhead" I couldn't help but laugh at Cameron's choice of words. He was the least bit intimidating but got the Orcneas' attention nevertheless. The creature, turning towards Cameron, roared with rage. Releasing me from the bubble, Cameron nodded at me to attack him while he was distracted. Doing so, I ran around the creature up some rocks and pounced at the creature's neck. Taking a large chunk of his skin, the creature began to struggle and collapse to the floor. A green liquid, which I assume was his blood, started to squirt out of the wound. The Orcneas was grasping his neck trying to stop the blood. That's when I heard a loud boom. A lightning bolt hit directly onto the body of the creature where his heart was, creating a hole clean through. The creature died instantly and I heard Cameron collapse to the floor.
"I... I've been practising that one in secret" He chuckled while laying there exhausted. "Thank you, Harry" He smiled and I nodded,
"You would have done the same for me" I smiled back down at him and added, " Brothers till the end..." He kept smiling before finally passing out in my arms.
Present:
I repeated it back to him "Brothers till the end" He smiled and walked back towards the exit.
"They're gonna come for us you know... the order," He said it with both fear and confidence. If that was even a thing.
"I know..." Is all I was able to say. After some thought, I simply added, "We have to go on the run" Cameron knew this and had prepared for this moment. He had a safehouse that we could go to that only he knew the location of.
"I'll go tell Mollie, Isaac and Jasmine... You should say goodbye to your father for one last time..." I nodded and didn't say anything else on the matter. Cameron left the church and I was alone with my father.
Walking over to the coffin, I laid my hand on the glossy wood and spoke,
"Everything's messed up dad... I exposed myself and my pack like an i***t. Anger got the better of me and I turned in front of everyone. That's not even the worst part... I killed him, dad... I killed that bastard Gregor... but I felt nothing. You're still gone and nothing can bring you back..." I was starting to tear up, "I miss you father... I won't be able to talk to you for a while... I've got to go off the grid... I hope I see you again soon." I lifted my hand off of the wood and walked away. Exiting the church I saw my pack waiting by the limo. "You guys ready?" I questioned, making sure everyone was fully on board.
They all looked at each other before nodding in unison...
