The first time...

868 Words
When I woke up my body ached. Instead of the warm comfort of my bed, I was laid on the cold snow-covered forest floor. "What happened?" I questioned to myself propping myself up onto the nearby tree. My legs were too tired and sore to move anywhere. I couldn't remember anything. It's like a part of my memory was missing. It was there but it's like it wasn't meant for me... like they're the memories of someone or something else. Something that lived inside of me. I had so many unanswered questions but my train of thought was disturbed by what caught my eye. Blood... I quickly checked to see if it was mine. There were no cuts or scratches. I was completely fine. Who did the blood belong to? Dark thoughts entered my mind invading like a wildfire. Was it my dad's? Cameron's? I started to panic. Just the thought of killing someone or hurting someone made me feel sick. I was going to be sick. I leaned to the side just in time for a thick, gloopy projectile to hit the snowy floor. The puddle was dark red. More blood. Blood bringing along with it darker thoughts into my head. I decided to finally get up and investigate the blood over in the distance. It seemed to be a trail of splatters and puddles that led down towards the river. Stumbling from tree to tree, trying not to lose my balance, I made it to the end of the trail of blood. It led into the river or to be more precise, across the river. That's when I saw it... Laying across the river was a bloody and beaten corpse of a deer. "Did... did I do that?" I questioned myself and it all made sense. The bloody trail leading to where I woke up, the blood in my vomit. I hunted this deer and ate most of its dying body. I cringed at the thought of it and became queasy again. Kneeling down next to the river, I cupped my hands and drunk a handful of water. It was incredibly refreshing and cleared my head. Standing back up, I made my way towards a dirt road in the distance and thought that was my best bet at getting back home. * * * Arriving home, I saw Cameron sitting on the porch. When he saw me his eyes went wide and he pulled a slightly concerned yet confused face. "Harry?" He exclaimed, clearly confused now. "Your dad said you were still asleep when he left..." I cut him off, which he is clearly used to now, and gestured for him to follow me to my bedroom. When I opened my bedroom door, I saw my window wide open and a memory came flooding into my mind. "I remember... I remember jumping out of the window... but not... like it wasn't me who jumped... but it was me..." Cameron's face had become even more puzzled and he sat on the end of my bed, probably trying to understand what I was saying. I turned to my left and saw my bathroom door slightly open with the light still on. When I opened the door, I looked to my right and saw my reflection. Another memory came back. "I remember... I remember seeing myself in the mirror... my reflection. I was in pain..." Cameron's face switched from mainly confused to mainly concerned as I explained my face covered in hair and my silver, glowing eyes. He sunk his head and looked at the floor, which meant he knew something. What did he know? "Cameron?" "You turned didn't you." He said more as a statement than a question as if he knew what had happened. He did know. His father was an advisor to the supernatural order. An organisation that dealt with all things supernatural. There will be more on them later, for now, I had to know what Cameron knew. "Yeah, I... I guess" I answered with an uncertain expression. He stood up and walked to the window, looking out as if to avoid any unnecessary eye contact with me. He was clearly uncomfortable and was probably finding the best way to tell me what he knew. "This was the first time you turned so you had no control..." That part I figured out. The hard way. "You will have hunted your first prey... or so your wolf did" He continued. I figured that out the hard way too but I was more confused about what he meant by 'my wolf'? I let him continue. "Yeah, you have a wolf inside you. Like apart of your DNA or something, I'm not sure on the whole biological explanation..." "oh" Is all I could say, still trying to comprehend everything he was saying. "Im going to be here for you Harry...You know that" I stood there, unsure of how to feel about all this. My life has just been turned upside down. I sat down on my bed and laid back, closed my eyes and thought of what I was going to do now. Present: That brings us back to now and how my life has completely changed again...
