Present:
I awoke to the sound of my phone ringing. I grabbed my phone off of the bedside table, squinting at the screen. The person responsible for waking me up at 8 am on a Sunday morning was Cameron.
"Of course" I mumbled to myself while clicking the answer button. "What" I bluntly answered, making sure that he knew I was pissed.
"Sorry H..." A nickname that he picked up a while ago and it stuck... unluckily. "There's been a lead, you're gonna wanna see this first hand before we alert the others." I sighed, both with annoyance and relief.
"I'm on my way" My voice was deep and raspy. A side effect of being woken up at 8 am. I hung up and threw my phone onto the other side of my king-sized bed. "A lead?" I asked myself, It had been months since we found anything on her. Only rumours and sightings here and there across the country. Could this be it? Had we finally found her?
I stood up from my bed, wearing nothing but my underwear. Reaching my bathroom door, I opened it and flicked on the light. Instant regret. Sometimes I forget that my senses are heightened. My eyes burned as I rubbed them, trying to adjust to the sudden change in brightness. As a werewolf, I can hear things from far away: heartbeats, breathing, footsteps. If I focus on one thing, I can follow the sound, it's kind of like a superpower. But sometimes it can be a curse. Especially when there's construction going on 24/7 down the street. Not only is my hearing heightened but also my sense of smell and my vision. Once my eyes finally adjusted, I stood looking at my reflection. This was something I did regularly. It's the only time I can think clearly.
After washing up in the bathroom, I made my way back into the bedroom. Pulling open one of the draws, I grabbed one of the many black shirts. In fact, I only owned black shirts. This, accompanied by my leather jacket that had a wolf stitched onto the back. A gift from the hilarious Cameron for my 21st birthday. I slipped on some jeans and reached for my black and red Nike shoes. After ruffling my overgrown crew cut, I decided to make my way to the front door. Opening the door, I exited my apartment and made my way to meet Cameron at our HQ.

Arriving at the warehouse, I saw Cameron standing at the door. He waved at me to come over quickly as it had started to rain. As I approached the front door, he slid it open revealing an empty storage unit. The unit was dark and dusty and had nothing but a keypad on the side. Walking further into the small, empty room, I stood in the middle as Cameron made his way over to the keypad. Typing in a few numbers, the keypad blinked an emerald green and we began to descend.
We stood in the elevator in silence. The only noise was coming from the creaky and rusty gears as we lowered towards our HQ. As we reached the bottom, the elevator jolted to a stop. Once stepping off, lights gradually illuminated the room. The lighting system was specially designed for my heightened senses making it easier for my eyes to adjust. The walls were made from 5ft thick concrete so the noises from the busy town above wouldn't distract me while trying to work. Towards the centre of the room was a round table with 5 chairs. The largest one being mine with a red wolf symbol on the back signifying that I am the alpha. The chair to my left was Cameron's and had a blue lightning bolt to signify he was second in command. The lightning bolt was his idea because his favourite spell to practise was a lightning one. The chair to my right was empty. It belonged to my father. He wasn't apart of the pack anymore. The other two chairs belonged to two other pack members. They were on a mission tracking down another werewolf. Her.
"I'll boot up the computers, Isaac has some information on her whereabouts. I'll let him explain." Isaac was one of the other werewolves in my pack. That's because I turned him. About 1 year ago, I was fighting another alpha. This alpha was cruel and dangerous and needed to be put down before he killed anyone else. Isaac was a nearby innocent. He had nothing to do with mine and the alphas fight. However, he got in the way and I bit him by accident. I was trying to save him but I ended up turning him. I was there for him throughout his entire changing process. I even personally trained him but I don't think he has forgiven me for ruining his life. He says he forgives me... But I don't believe him.
The screen flickered as a man appeared on the screen. "Isaac" I acknowledged and nodded towards the screen. His chiselled and clean-shaved face smiled as he saw his alpha for the first time in weeks.
"H..." My face cringed at the sound of that nickname. "I believe we have found her." With no expression, I replied,
"Where?" Isaac turned his laptop camera to the side of the room. It looked like the room of a motel. Unclean, stained and barely together. But that was also Isaac's lifestyle so who knew. As he stood up, he revealed a board with a map of the United States. I noticed a red circle and as if he could read my mind he said,
"According to the Devil pack, she was last seen in these woods." He pointed to the circle. "More precisely... here"
"But that's only 50 miles away" Cameron chirped up from behind. "Why is she this close now? She has always kept her distance from other packs" I walked back from the screen and sat in my chair. I could feel both Cameron and Isaac's eyes staring into the back of my head. Waiting for their alpha to make a decision.
"Its the prophecy... Cameron prepare our bags. Isaac, notify Mollie and let her know to meet us at the old train station." I chuckled to myself after the last order as I knew Isaac was scared of Mollie and rightly so. She was a handful. Lastly, I added, "Let's go meet this invisible wolf..."
