Chapter1 This pearl necklace is yours?
"King Theodore, this is a personal gift from the monarch of Southland, the ownership rights to eighteen gold mines within their borders."
"This is a tribute from the king of Equineland, a transfer agreement for the operational rights of the Equineland Strait Port."
"..."
Inside the lounge of the West Frontier Military Airport, General Jeeves Johnson, clad in military attire, respectfully stood behind King Theodore, reporting the lavish gifts sent by various nations worldwide.
"Accept them all, and extend my gratitude to them."
Theodore Triumph, standing before Jeeves , slowly turned around and spoke with tranquility.
"King Theodore, are you truly returning?"
Jeeves dared to inquire.
"Indeed, my girlfriend has waited for me for seven years, enduring countless hardships. Now, she has arranged our engagement all by herself, I owe her immensely."
A hint of tenderness flashed across Theodore Chen's face as he spoke.
At that moment, a private jet landed steadily at the airport.
Jeeves stood at attention, saluting, "Farewell, King Theodore."
After Theodore nodded, he boarded the plane, escorted by fighter jets, heading towards Timberwood City.
On the plane, Theodore tenderly gazed at the piggy bank in his hand, his thoughts drifting back to a harsh winter many years ago. As a young boy, he was expelled from The Triumph Dynasty of Crescent Capital. During his time of hunger and cold, a little girl in a princess dress gave him a piggy bank filled with coins.
It was these coins that helped Theodore overcome his hardships.
Back then, he didn't know the kind girl's name, only remembering her pearl necklace with intricate, hard-to-decipher patterns engraved on it.
Later, Theodore found the kind girl with the pearl necklace, who turned out to be Eleanor Seraphine.
Under Theodore’s active pursuit, they became a couple, and he showered Eleanor with affection.
Later, Eleanor 's younger brother, Ray Seraphine, killed someone in a drunk driving incident and fled.
Ray was at a critical point in his PhD examination, and Eleanor hoped that Theodore would take the blame. She also promised Theodore that they would get married and stay together forever once he was released from prison.
Without much thought, Theodore agreed.
For him, this was a way to repay Eleanor 's previous act of kindness.
Theodore took the blame and was sentenced to seven years in prison. After entering prison, he was selected to join the army and was secretly sent to the western frontier.
Over the past seven years, he has been brave and fearless, repelling countless enemies and maintaining peace in the western frontier.
His outstanding military achievements made him an exception to be crowned champion, surpassing all the armies, second to none!
Seven years have passed, and Theodore received a call from Eleanor to get engaged.
This time he returned, he wanted to tell everyone in the Seraphine family how worthwhile Eleanor 's seven-year wait was.
When he arrived in Timberwood City, he went straight to the Seraphine family without stopping.
When he arrived at the gate with carefully selected gifts, he saw Eleanor in a evening gown at a glance.
After not seeing her for seven years, she was still so dignified and beautiful, generous and elegant.
But at this moment, she seemed particularly angry, pointing at a woman and saying angrily, "You did it on purpose, didn't you? You deliberately knocked the cake to the ground so that I wouldn't have a cake at my engagement ceremony, right?"
"You unwanted bastard, you've always been jealous of me!"
"Eleanor, I really didn't mean i..."
Slap!
Eleanor slapped the woman's face, “Get out of here!"
The unprepared woman was hit and staggered a few steps, almost falling to the ground.
Seeing this scene, Theodore couldn't help but frown.
Theodore knew the woman hit by Eleanor. Her name was Adelaide Seraphine, she was the adopted daughter of the third child of the Seraphine family.
She was beautiful and stunning.
Theodore Triumph, unable to bear the sight any longer, stepped forward towards Eleanor Seraphine.
"Eleanor, please, let's keep our composure. I understand you've been meticulously planning our engagement ceremony. But surely, Adelaide's mistake doesn't need to warrant such a reaction." As he spoke, Theodore instinctively reached out to comfort Eleanor, his arm gently draping over her shoulder.
With a swift motion, Eleanor broke free from his touch and slapped him across the face.
"You audacious man, what do you think you're doing?" she demanded, her eyes wide with shock and anger.
Taken aback by Eleanor's unexpected outburst, Theodore was momentarily speechless.
Before he could muster a response, Eleanor's mother, Ava Seraphine, interjected with a look of utter disgust.
"Theodore Triumph, keep your filthy hands off my daughter. She is not someone for you to casually touch!"
"Today is supposed to be a joyous occasion - our engagement. There's no need for such hostility," Theodore tried to reason, his voice steady despite the tension in the room.
"Engagement? With my sister? Ha! You, a former convict, have some nerve. How could my sister possibly lower herself to be with a criminal like you?" Ray Seraphine, Eleanor's younger brother, sneered.
"My sister's future husband is the esteemed younger heir of the Valeriano Family. We invited you here today to make you realize the harsh truth: stop chasing after my sister. You are simply not worthy."
Faced with such blatant disdain, Theodore's brow furrowed. "Are you aware of why I was imprisoned?"
"Of course we do. Drunk driving resulting in death, and you even had the audacity to flee the scene," Ray retorted confidently, his face devoid of any remorse.
"You should be grateful to my sister. If it weren't for her persuading you to turn yourself in, you would have been sentenced to more than seven years!" The room buzzed with whispers at Ray's revelation, the crowd's eyes now filled with disgust and contempt towards Theodore.
"So he's a scoundrel!"
"Such a disgrace! He should leave immediately!"
Theodore, now the target of everyone's scorn, couldn't help but glance at the gloating Ray and Ava Seraphine. He hadn't expected that his long-awaited return after seven years would be met with such a scene.
Just then, a man in a suit approached Eleanor, a triumphant smile playing on his lips. He knelt on one knee, took out a delicate box from his pocket, and revealed a necklace. "My dear, let's not let this ruin our day. This is my gift to you. Do you like it?"
Eleanor's eyes lit up at the sight of the shiny gold necklace. She nodded enthusiastically, "I love it, I love it! It's so beautiful! Thank you, my love!" After expressing her delight, she leaned in to plant a kiss on Marcus Valeriano.
Seeing Eleanor's actions, Theodore felt as if he had been punched in the gut. "Wasn't I supposed to be your fiancé? Seven years ago, you promised me that when I returned, we would never part."
Eleanor, who was admiring her new necklace, heard Theodore's words and rolled her eyes in disgust. "Theodore Triumph, did prison make you delusional? Who told you I was going to get engaged to you? You believed what I casually said seven years ago?"
"Why would I ever choose to be with someone like you who has nothing to offer? To starve?" Eleanor clung onto Marcus 's arm, "This is my future husband, the young heir of the Valeriano family. Please stop bothering me and disrupting our lives."
Hearing these harsh words, Theodore was in disbelief. The kind-hearted angel he once knew had transformed into such a materialistic and pragmatic woman! "Eleanor, I've spent seven years longing for you, dreaming of making you the happiest woman in the world, and this is how you repay me?"
Hearing Theodore's words, Eleanor scoffed dismissively, "You've been in jail for seven years, what can you possibly offer me? Are you wealthy or influential?"
Just as Eleanor spoke bluntly, Marcus Valeriano gently waved his hand, looking like he saw through everything. "Eleanor, this man is pestering you because he's penniless!"
"Let him clean toilets at our company, with a monthly salary of two thousand!"
Upon hearing this, Eleanor looked at Theodore with disgust and shook her head repeatedly, "Darling, he's not even qualified to clean toilets at our company. He lacks the ability, and a monthly salary of two thousand is too generous!"
"A criminal with a record, having food to eat and not starving to death is good enough!"
"Eleanor, isn't it too cruel to repay kindness with enmity?" Just then, Adelaide, who was covering her face, spoke up somewhat angrily on behalf of Theodore.
"You say I'm repaying kindness with enmity?" An enraged Eleanor stared straight at Adelaide, "You useless wretch, you're good for nothing but causing a ruckus!"
"What does my business with him have to do with you?" Immediately after, she took off the pearl necklace around her neck and threw it at Adelaide with disgust, "When you gave me this necklace, you said it was a family heirloom, right? This shabby necklace doesn't suit me, take it back!"
"I, the future mistress of the Valeriano family, don't need garbage friends like you. We're done!"
Hearing this, Theodore's face changed dramatically, he couldn't believe it as he looked at Adelaide, "This pearl necklace is yours?"
"Yes, what’s wrong?"
