The gala itself was actually pretty fun. Lila greatly enjoyed the sheer glamour of the place, being escorted to their table, watching live performances by celebrities she would otherwise have little chance to watch. It was fun learning how to bid for the things she wanted at the auction, which included things like paintings from some of the biggest contemporary artists of the year, to adoption pledges for various nature reserves.
It had been interesting too, to watch how Blake went from his usual aloof self to a smooth charmer, if still somewhat reserved. But that slight reservation somehow made him even more irresistible to women, gave him an air of mystery that tempted one to come nearer.
