Chapter 6

Chapter 6 Arden POV*   Robbie was nearly running to get me upstairs to my new room. Or his room? I guess I can say our room since it is expected for mates to share rooms immediately after meeting. I’m not exactly ready for that, but it is what is expected. Robbie pushed open a door and set me on my feet next to the bed. I took a moment to look around, and marvel at how beautiful the room is. The bedroom was nearly twice the size of the one that I had at my Mom’s house. A king-sized bed was against one wall with a door next to it that I assumed leads to the bathroom. French doors that lead to a patio that was big enough to hold a table and two chairs. I hoped that it gave a good view of the pack lands, but I would have to check that later. A large TV was mounted to a wall, and under it was a large dresser. Beside that was a walk-in closet with the door open allowing me to see that it was filled with Robbie’s clothes as well as women’s clothes. I looked at him a quirked my brow, and he looked down at the ground. “I told you I would provide for you.” He muttered sheepishly my unspoken question in a low voice, and then he raised his head with more confidence. “You will never go without. Anything that you need, my mate, you will have.” Robbie was slowly stalking towards me, backing me into the bed. I could see his eyes darken with lust, and my body started to respond to his presence. He wrapped his arms around my waist and picked me up before lowering me onto the bed. Hovering over me, he leaned in and inhaled my scent like it was a drug to him. I couldn’t help but be aroused by him, and I arched my body towards him. Robbie pulled his head back to lock eyes with me. I could see him and his wolf fighting for dominance. I knew that if I didn’t do something soon, he would lose control and mark and mate me. Part of me desperately wanted that. That part was nearly begging to let him take me and have his way with me. But the rational part of me knew that I would regret losing myself to him in such a way. I had maintained my virginity to give to my mate, and even though he is right here with me, this was never my idea of how it would happen. Quickly, I reached up and pushed against his chest. Robbie, or his wolf, growled at me. Not the type of growl that could make my knees weak. This growl scared me, and I nearly screamed. I guess the fear showed on my face because almost immediately his eyes cleared, and he pulled away. “I’m so sorry, mate.” Robbie said while quickly scrambling to get off of the bed. He stepped back with him hands in the air. “I didn’t mean to scare you. My wolf, Max, is a little out of control right now. He wants you, and he doesn’t want to wait.” “He would really ignore my wishes?” I asked, my voice cracking. “He would, but I’ll keep it under control. I promise.” His voice and eyes held enough sincerity that I started to relax. “I can’t stand to do anything that would make me lose you.” “I want to wait.” I blurted out before I could lose the confidence, “Until the Luna Ceremony.” His eyes flashed and his entire body tensed at my words. “Ok.” He ground out, though it was quite obvious he thought it was anything but ok. “You need to rest, mate. I will let you have this room until then. There is no way I will be able to keep from mating you before then if I stay here.” Robbie walked towards me and gathered me up in his arms again. He burrowed his face into the crook of my neck and took a deep breath.  I heard him growl lightly before he released me and tensely stood back, eyes looking my body up and down. Without another word, he turned and stormed out of the room. Head reeling from everything that just happened, I plopped down on the edge of the bed. I couldn’t believe that he had agreed to wait, but his emotions seemed to jump between sweet and gentle to barely in control. Unable to make sense of everything that has happened in the last 2 days, I laid back on a pillow and stared at the ceiling. I tried calling out to Fae to see if she can help me sort through the jumbled mess of my thoughts, but she has been unnaturally quiet ever since we left our old pack. Exhaustion hit me out of nowhere and my eyes grew heavy. My last thought before passing out was that I was over reacting and just scared of the unknown.   Robbie POV*   I slammed to door of my office behind me and stood there taking deep breaths. Throwing myself on the couch, I thought about what just happened. I had enjoyed watching her eyes light up while she noticed the beauty in the bed room. She was like an open book when excited, and watching her gave me such an odd comfort. It was almost as good as holding her in my arms. For a small moment, I actually felt uncertain when she looked at the closet and saw that I already filled it with clothes for her. I’ve never been uncertain about anything, but something about her makes me question things. When we were on the bed, I could see lust reflected in her eyes, and I was about to take her right then. Max had fought me for control because he wanted to be the one to mark her, but then she pushed me away. I couldn’t believe that once again she rejected my advances, and  a growl came out of me showing how unhappy I was with her. But then she looked at me in fear, and I had to step back. Of course, I want my Luna to be submissive and know that I’m in charge, but her fear had actually given me pause. This woman was challenging my control in so many ways and I’ve only known her for a day. She said she wanted to wait until the Luna Ceremony, and I was furious. It’s nearly unheard of for Alphas not to mark their mate immediately. Max started struggling to come forward and put her in her place, but even with my anger, I couldn’t release Max on her, so I left. Pussy. Max spat at me while he angrily paced the back of my mind. You’re so weak. Letting the mate bond control you like that. ‘I don’t want to take her against her will. And I don’t want her fear.’ I could feel him roll his eyes at my explanation. ‘I want her to learn the old ways. When she can see and accept us, then we will have her. And if she doesn’t accept how we run the pack by the Luna Ceremony, then we will have her anyways.’ Pathetic. Don’t try to make excuses for weakness. Mate is ours, and she should’ve already been marked. ‘Just shut up.’ I said right before I closed him out. Max might think I’m weak for not taking advantage of our mate, but I’m able to control him, so who is really the weak one. Marcus. I call him over mind-link. I want you to get any information you can on our Luna. On it Alpha. My Beta doesn’t feel the need to question the order. I’ll learn what there is to know about her, and then I’ll show her the benefit of the old ways.
