The coffee collision
💥 Episode 1: Coffee, Chaos, and Cold Eyes The morning started like any other. Zara Cole slipped into the small café on 6th Avenue, her paint-stained hoodie pulled over her head, earbuds in, humming along to her favorite playlist. She had exactly ten dollars in her pocket and a long list of canvases to finish before her shift at the gallery. She didn’t expect her life to change before she even got her coffee. The line was long, the barista looked like she’d rather die than smile, and Zara could feel the caffeine withdrawal hitting hard. Still, she waited, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. Then he walked in. Tall, suited, and radiating arrogance, the man stormed through the door like he owned the building. Phone pressed to his ear, his voice was clipped and commanding. “No, I said fire him—today. I don’t care how good his numbers were last quarter.” Zara rolled her eyes. Another Wall Street robot. He brushed past her, heading straight for the counter. No line. No courtesy. “Oh, absolutely not,” she muttered, stepping forward to block him. He blinked at her like she was an obstacle instead of a person. “Excuse me?” “You just cut the line. We’ve all been standing here like decent humans.” “I don’t do lines,” he replied smoothly, one brow lifting. “And I’m late for a meeting that probably costs more than your rent.” Zara gave him a once-over. Cold grey eyes. Rolex. Custom suit. Zero soul. Definitely rich. Definitely rude. “Well,” she said, reaching for her cup as the barista finally handed it over, “here’s a free lesson in humility—on the house.” She spun too fast. The coffee hit him square in the chest. Scalding, dark, and direct. He cursed, taking a step back, staring down at his now-stained white shirt. Gasps echoed from nearby customers. Zara froze, cup dangling from her fingers. “Oh my God…” she breathed. “I didn’t mean to—” His jaw tightened. “You just ruined a $2,000 shirt.” “And you ruined the vibe the moment you walked in,” she snapped, flustered. “I’d say we’re even.” Their eyes locked. The tension thickened. And for one strange second, she swore she saw something behind his annoyance—amusement? Intrigue? He stepped closer. Too close. “What’s your name?” She narrowed her eyes. “None of your business, Suit.” He smirked, wiping his shirt with a napkin. “I’ll find out anyway.” Zara turned and walked away, heart pounding, refusing to look back. She didn’t know who he was. She didn’t care. And she definitely wasn’t going to fall for some stuck-up billionaire. But as she stepped back into the street, she had no idea her life had just collided with Ethan Blackwood—a man used to getting everything… except her. .....
