Chapter 9

"Wow" I was so lost in my thoughts that I almost missed Neil's silent exclamation. I turned to ask her what was wrong when I saw him.

Christian.

He was leaning against his car with ankles crossed over each other,his endlessly long legs where encased in a form fitting denim Jean,he wore a white t-shirt underneath a black leather jacket that emphasised his bulging muscles.

I gulped as he raised his arms to flit his hand through his soft brown locks.

He hasn’t seen me yet cause he was doing something on his phone so I started walking towards him aware that each step that I took towards him only made my heart pound harder and faster.

Finally he looked up from his phone when I was almost at the spot he was,his mesmerising eyes met mine and my breath caught at how intensely beautiful he was,the smile that had started to spread faltered a little. No guy has the right to be that beautiful,it's just so unfair.

"Hey babe" he said when I was close enough to hear and push himself off his car. He came forward and pecked me lightly on my cheek which made his scent to waft into my nose making me light headed.

"Hi" I said smiling. Compose yourself Ava.

"This is my bestfriend Neil" I point at a goggle eyed Neil. I nudged her to snap her out of it.

"Oh hi" she finally said flashing a brilliant smile.

"Nice to meet you" Christian said pressing a kiss to the back of her hand.

"The pleasure is all mine" she sighed out making me mentally roll my eyes.

Down girl. He's mine.

Wait. That sounded so wrong,he's not mine. Of course he isn't.

“...Right shortcakes?" Christian's voice snapped me out of my reverie

"What" I said blankly

"I just told Neil here you wouldn't be needing a ride home today as we have a date" he said with a half smile,his eyes questioning.

"We do?" I blurted out stupidly "I mean of course we do,I'm sorry" I quickly corrected myself giving both him and Neil an apologetic smile "I spaced out a bit there"

"It's okay, you always seem to do that now" Neil rolled her eyes at me " I have to go anyway" she continued the playful glint leaving her eyes.

"Did something happen to Sara?" I grabbed her hands in concern

She blew out a breath "she had a relapse"

"Oh Neil,I'm so sorry" I said pulling her into a hug "why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want to think about it" she drew out of the hug and said in a bright voice "you on the other hand, have a date to go to young lady"

"Neil.."

She gave me a peck "don't do anything I wouldn't do" and with a quick wave to Christian she left.

"What was that about?" I turned to face Christian

"Her grandma is a stroke patient." I said with a sigh.

He looked at me for a while,then fixed a smile on his face "shall we?"

"We shall" I said with an answering smile relieved he wasn't going to ask questions I wouldn't be able to answer.

He opened the door for me with a wink and after I was settled in rounded the car to settle In the driver's seat.

"So where are we going?" I asked hoping my attire was appropriate and wishing i could go home to take a shower and change my clothes.

"It's a surprise" he said with a grin

"What?!" I shrieked in mock horror "I hate surprises"

His sudden laugh startled me. I realized I've never heard him laugh and I immediately wanted to hear it again.

Knowing I could make him laugh,knowing I made him laugh gave me a warm fuzzy feeling in my stomach.

"Well too bad" he said with a wink

"Are you planning to kidnap me?" I asked with raised eyebrows when I realised we were approaching Taylor’s Groove’s border “cause if so,it will do you good to remember Neil saw us leave together"

He tsked shaking his head at me "don't you trust me, ma cheri?"

"No" I told him bluntly.

He put his hand on his chest gasping dramatically "No!!" He groaned "whatever shall I do?,tis a horror it is,how can you not trust me?" He continued with a horrible accent making me roll my eyes

"Both hands on the wheel mister,I cherish all my body parts"

"First she doesn't trust me,now she doesn't trust my driving skills,my heart is crushed"

I rolled my eyes again knowing he was deliberately trying to get my mind off the fact that we just left Taylor's groove behind.

Since he's obviously not going to tell me where we're going,I might as well take a nap and turning to face him I told him exactly that

He laughed again "that's right babe,and looking at me with those puppy dog eyes won't work,though I won't deny it's cute"

"I wasn't looking at you at all" I sulked looking out the window with my arms folded.

"Ava" I felt a slight shake on my shoulder "Ava wake up".

I opened my eyes to see Christian's face hovering over my face.

Wow. His eyes are so incredible.

I felt my heart start to pound and my stomach decided to join the party.

Something must have shown on my face because his eyes darkened as his gaze dropped to my mouth.

My head spun and I felt slightly dizzy as his head slowly got closer and closer,his gaze alternated from my eyes to my lips and back again as if asking for permission.

I parted my lips on an exhale as I realised our faces were only inches apart.

I closed my eyes tilting my head up in anticipation of the kiss when suddenly I felt a trickle in my throat.

Oh my God!,not now!

Oh no.

No no no no no no.

Archeeeww!!.

Oops.
