Chapter 11

It's been two weeks since I had the conversation with Christian and I still haven't decided if I made the right decision or not.

We've fallen into a routine of some sort.

He takes me to school every morning,picks Zoe and I to take to his house to work on our project then takes me back home again.

We've been getting to know each other and gotten a lot closer too.

I often find myself thinking of him. No matter how hard I try not to,my mind just wanders to him randomly.

Zoe and I finished our project last night and she managed to convince Christian to take me out to celebrate it.

Not that he had needed much convincing I remember with a scowl even though I was ridiculously pleased at the prospect of going on a date with him.

The girls -Zoe and Neil- have decided that they're taking me shopping after school no matter how much I protested,they claimed I needed to knock Christian off his feet once in a while,the thought made me roll my eyes as I slowly made my way to the cafeteria knowing they would already be there since their class wrapped up early.

I saw them immediately I got in. Since Zoe was the only redhead in our school they were really easy to spot. I walked to their table and dropped beside Neil facing Zoe.

"Hi guys"

"Hey"

"Are you ready to go shopping??" Neil grinned earning a groan in answer.

"Don't be such a fashion pooper" Zoe chimed in

"Please don't remind me,just thinking about it gives me the shudders,let me enjoy the free 3 hours I have left"

"What do you mean?" Neil asked "we're leaving after lunch.”

Cue a gasp from me "what??!" I shrieked

"Don't worry I had a nice long chat with Mrs Rodriguez,since she knows we're leaving,we won't get into any trouble"

I groaned again.

"What do you think of this?" Neil asked Zoe as she held a gold dress against my chin.

"Hmm,I don't know,it looks really nice but doesn't go with her complexion"

Neil scrutinize the dress again and said "you're right"

God I feel like screaming,we've been at the mall for 2 hours and each time Zoe or Neil choose a dress to put against my chin,the other scrutinises it and deem it not good enough.

I sighed glancing around the boutique when a blue dress caught my eye.

"Guys,what about that one?" I said pointing to the dress,both Neil and Zoe's head swivelled sharply to look at it.

Zoe gasped.

"It looks perfect" Neil sighed

Finally.

"Go try it on" Zoe said taking it off the rack and pushing me to the direction of the changing room.

I took off my jean and shirt and squeezed into the dress. I checked myself in the mirror and was amazed at what I saw.

The dress was a knee length body-con so it displayed my figure nicely.

The neckline made my boobs look bigger and displayed a little cleavage.

I love it.

I opened the door to the dressing room,ready to argue if either Neil or Zoe deemed it unworthy.

"Guys" I said to get their attention.

"Wow"

"I almost feel sorry for my brother. Almost" Zoe said with an evil glint with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

"Here put this on" Neil thrust a 4 inch silver heel in my hand.

"Um,I don't think I'll be able to walk in this" I told her looking skeptically at the heel in my hand.

"Just put it on" Neil said with an eye roll

I resisted sighing as i bent to remove my comfortable sneaker.

I stood up after putting the heel on and they both gasped dramatically.

"Hmm,the hair has to be piled up" Neil said walking around me in a circle "the makeup and accessories has to be minimal so as not to take attention from the dress"

"I think I have silver earrings with matching necklace she could wear" Zoe said.

"Great" Neil grinned "do you still have the silver clutch I got you last Christmas?".

"Yes" I said with an eye roll

"I told you it would come in handy didn't I?" Neil said looking smug

Three hours later my butt was starting to get numb from sitting for so long.

Neil was doing something with my hair occasionally cursing at me for neglecting this or that,while Zoe was working on my face which she already declared flawless.

"Done" Neil finally said sounding satisfied.

"Almost..." Zoe muttered "done" she said straightening from her bent position.

They both scrutinised me for a while,then turned to each other with a grin.

"Great job partner" Zoe said with a wink.

"High five" Neil said palm out and grinning Zoe obliged her.

"Can I look at the mirror now?" I asked

"Not until you're completely ready" was Neil's curt reply accompanied by a sharp nod from Zoe.

I mentally rolled my eyes at them as I stood up to put on the dress.

If I roll my eyes one more time my eyes will surely fall out.

Once I was in the dress I put on the heels.

Zoe brought out a small Tiffany jewellery box and gave it to me.

"You really don't have to do this" I said starting to feel guilty at how obviously excited she was.

"Nonsense" she dismissed with a scowl,then grinning she pulled me in a hug "I can't wait for you to be my sister".

I stiffened mid hug,pulling on all my control so I wouldn't flinch,but all too soon she pulled out of the hug.

"Close your eyes" she commanded and I was too guilty to argue so I just did what she said.

I felt her putting the earrings on for me,then putting the necklace around my neck.

"Done" I opened my eyes in time to see Neil handing my clutch to me.

"Don't worry. I already put your phone in it and other essentials" she said with a smile.

"You may now look at the mirror" Zoe announced.

I gasped when I looked at the mirror,I looked so different...so sophisticated and gorgeous.

My hair was in a curled updo with little ringlets around my face,there was a little -almost invisible- silver circlet around my hair.

The makeup was light,blue eyeshadow with umber lip.

The necklace had a lovely intricately designed silver chain with an heart shaped blue pendant.

The earrings were little hearts.

I feel like Cinderella must have felt after her fairy godmother did her magic. Only my fairy godmothers aren't magicians.

My eyes filled at the thought.

"Well..." Neil pressed.

I turned to face them both "thank you so much guys,I feel beautiful" I told them my voice cracking.

"Now there,don't cry" Zoe said pulling me into a hug "you'll ruin your makeup"

"I won't" I said fiercely feeling loved when Neil also joined in the hug.

The doorbell sounded then and Zoe pulled back "That must be my brother. why don't you stay here awhile to compose yourself,I'll go open the door for him" she said already leaving then turned back with a glint in her eyes "and maybe torture him a bit.”

"Are you okay?.” Neil asked looking at me really closely after Zoe left.

"I'm fine" I said trying not to squirm at her close scrutiny "just a little emotional is all".

She seemed to accept that as she pulled me into a tight hug "my baby is all grown up".

I laughed at that and pulled out of the hug "shall we go now?,only Lord knows what Zoe is saying to Christian"

"We shall" she said taking my hand as we left my room "I can't wait to see his reaction".

Me too Neil.

Me too.

When we got to the living room Zoe and Christian were arguing about something but he suddenly looked up and his reaction.

Boy was it priceless.

He actually gaped as he stood up and walked up to me,then he said his barely a croak "Ava?. You look amazing.”

I was so delighted with his reaction "Christian..." I said with a smile and without thinking threw my arms around him.
