The dragon within

   Today's the day. It's the day I turn 15 and I'm so excited! Oh pardon me where are my manners? My name is Joslin; Joslin Marie Cooper. I am the next alpha of the silver Crescent pack. My father is Calvin Cooper and he's the alpha as of now. For my birthday we don't do a big party like most packs. I told dad when I was 8 I just wanted my birthday to be him and me. I guess that makes me selfish but I don't get a lot of quality time with my parents. My mother died when I was young from rogues and my dad is overwhelmed with pack responsibilities seeing as how there's no Luna to help run the pack. He doesn't seem to mind; I mean he has an awesome beta named Samuel West who helps more than most betas would. I really don't mind either but on my day it's for me and that's the only thing I want. Today we are to go to the movie theater and roller skating. I am a werewolf but I don't transition for another year however we've been talking since I was 13. Her name is Malya I'm not sure of how she looks yet because I can't see her yet; I'm not rushing. She'll show herself when she's ready.  Me on the other hand I'm 5.8 which yes is tall for any female, I have dirty dishwater blonde hair that goes just beneath my butt, with sea foam green eyes and full lips heart shaped lips. I'm not going to say that I'm the prettiest girl out there because I've seen my fair share of beauties but I don't think I'm the worst either. Right now I'm standing in my room trying to figure out what to wear. I finally decide on a white lace shirt that comes off the shoulders with a pair of blue jeans cut off shorts that has a lace patch on the pocket. I then decide I'm going to put my hair up in a waterfall braid and slide on a pair of peach colored slide on shoes. While I'm finishing I hear a car pull up and I jump out of my seat knowing it's my dad.    I go running down the stairs as fast as I can and jump into his arms throwing my arms around his neck.  "I missed you so much! " I state and it's true. I don't ever take the time I spend with him for granite I know that he could be off doing his duties but today he's not. He just squeezes me chuckling "Ah I missed you too my little butterfly" He says using the nickname he gave me. "Is my little girl ready to have some fun? "     I nod my head vigorously with anticipation "Yes! What movie are we going to see" I ask. I watch his smile slowly fade and his face pales as the  howls that were floating through the air registered what was going on. We were being attacked. "Go to the cellars Joslin and hide in the floor. We've been through this you know what to do.  Follow the drains out and go to the first house you see. From there they will know what to do. I love you my butterfly now GO!" He booms the last part.     I feel the tears rolling down my face and I hold onto his arm "Please daddy I want you with me."  He looks at me and softens just enough for me to let go.      He puts his hand to my cheek and gently brushes the tears from my face cooing "Oh baby you will never be alone and even if I never see you again as long as you fight we all live on through you" I see the corners of his mouth lift slightly into a smile and pride fills his eyes which gives me the strength to do as I'm told. I nod my head and run towards the cellars however my plans were foiled by a guy with black hair and he wore an eye patch over his left eye. I reached for the door as he came out of the bushes and grabs my arm. He smirks at me saying "where are you going?"    I feel a cold sensation run down my spine. Something about this man has me petrified but I try not to let it show. I stand with my head held high staring him in the eye but I say nothing because I've been caught and there's nothing I can say that will change my fate. His smile widens and says "it could be dangerous for such a fragile flower such as yourself to be wondering around I mean after all the rogue prince is out there ready to stake his claim. Here we'll get you back to your dad." He tries to put his hand on my shoulder but I shrug it off and start to walk the way I came from. He just smiles sadistically and puts his hands in the air. As we get closer I see almost the whole pack is here and it breaks my heart. Everyone is looking at me horrified.     "Ah there's the spoiled brat for a moment I thought you got away. " I hear a voice from behind me. I still refuse to give them what they want I won't show how scared I am so I keep silent. "Goddess you sure are the idea of beauty aren't you. What do you think of her Stephen?" He says to his friend.     Stephen then grabs my hands behind my back and forces me on my knees.  " I feel it would be more fun to break her than her father at least we'd have a pretty face to look at as we did." He says with some sort of satisfaction.     "Yes I was thinking the same thing... let's get started then shall we bring me the alpha." At these words my heart drops. Some men brings my father's battered body. This can't be my dad this man looks defeated; I've never seen him like this.     He looked up into my eyes with an apologetic look. "I'm sorry baby I tried." I shake my head no I don't want him to let them think they've won.     " Alpha you have two choices.  One you can hand over your title and I'll give you and your brat a quick death; or option two I break your daughter and she gives me the title." Says the vile man. "Gage it is not my place to give you the title just as it wasn't my choice whether I gained it or not. The moon goddess gave it to me and it is her right to take it so you do what you need to do." He then looks at me with a genuine smile and says " be strong and never give in the moon goddess will come through for you." He then raises his head and let's out a victorious howl and the whole pack follows as the man my father called Gage swings a silver blade above his head and brings it down beheading my father.
