The dragon within

                    ~Joslin~

   I'm sitting on the bed feeling on top of the world running my fingers through my hair. I knew my mate was a wolf but I had no idea he was so powerful. I thought he was just an omega which I love him either way but before I figured he wouldn't be able to do anything but now I can see maybe we will have a fighting chance. I hear Malya start a conversation "who'd have thought or mate would had been the last of his kind?"

   I smile at that statement. I'm on cloud nine and in my own little world back to humming more boldly then I normally do. I was lost to the reality around me until I heard the door open and I literally felt my whole world go from right side up to upside down within a split second. I literally felt the colors drain from my face. Leon would only come once a day so whoever was coming down here wasn't him. Then I smelt the sickening stench of Gage and Stephen. Of course they wouldn't come down here by themselves after all they're cowards. They I see their feet first coming down the hallway but I'm not looking down anymore. I'm done being ashamed for what they've done to me. No I found a new strength and this time as long as Leon is beside me it won't disappear.

   He reaches my cell door but to my surprise he doesn't even attempt to open it. He just stands there frozen when I realize he's trying to intimate me but I can smell the fear radiating off him and my lips involuntarily turn up in a smile. He's scared to come in with me! When he sees how much joy in getting from his emotions he informs me "Once I heal I am marking you"

   These words infuriated me "you may succeed in marking me but you'd have to kill me before I mark you. And we both know in order for me to transfer the title of alpha I have to be alive." I turned and walked back to sit on my bed acting as if I had not a car in the world which seemed to upset Gage.

   "Killing you no but there's a spell to bring your beast out and render you unconscious which will happen. I'm done playing with you it will happen the day of your birthday this week give me time to heal and for you to realize you can't stop the inevitable." I'm looking down at my nails acting like his words don't bother me when he turns and walks out. I'm really not to worried about his threats because I know my Leon will have me out by then. I sigh in relief after I hear the door shutting behind him. 

     ~later that evening~

   The sun is setting and I watch the colors mix together. I hear wrestling leaves in the woods and a twig snap. I look down thinking I'd see little Charlotte running towards me but it's not it's the one they call Alex. He finally makes it to my window with a scared look upon his face. 

   "Joslin I'm in trouble" he says out of breathe "the guards are after me. They wanted me to join and told them my loyalty lies with the true alpha."

   My eyes grew wide "my boy why would you do that!?!"

   "Because you are my alpha Joslin and I serve you."  He holds his head high with stubbornness "you foolish boy  if you don't know how to fight how do you plan to serve me?" I'm frustrated but not just because of the boys foolishness. Why are they making Children start training so early? I'm quiet for a few minutes when I hear more wrestling leaves coming from the forest floor. I have to think quick "can you squeeze through the bars?" I ask and he tries to wriggle through but with no avail when I see Leon in a uniform come through the trees. "So that's what you've been up to." I linked he said nothing just smiled. "Do you see where I'm heading with this?" He asks i shake my head yes. 

   "Alex this is Leon" I say "he's my mate go with him and he will help you." I seen the relief on his face knowing that he wasn't there to hurt him. 

   "I talked Gage into showing the pack that he is capable of mercy so Alex won't be hurt but he will be under my wing. He won't see his parents till everything is done but on my life he won't be hurt." Leon states and I shine with pride. 

   "Ok but for now you both must go before you get caught" I say trying to hurry them along. 

   "I vow Joslin I will see that you are out before my eighteenth birthday" Alex says puffing out his chest. I smile with amusement in my eyes this boy acts so much older than what he really is. 

   "I'm going to hold you to that young one" I say putting my hand to his cheek. "Ok now get out of here the both of you!" With that they both turn back to the woods from the way they came. 

   I watch out the window a few more minutes before I hear the door open behind me. I turn around and begin to panic seeing Gage and Stephen standing before me. I'm praying they didn't hear our conversation before they came in. I play it cool though not wanting to give them any clue the plotting that's going on behind their backs. I stare bit wanting my voice to give way to fear. 

   "From now on when the people retaliate you will be the one to pay for it." He says stealing forward. I release the breathe i was holding knowing my Leon and Alex weren't caught. 

   "And what's that supposed to prove to MY people" I said making sure that they were still mine and this enraged him. 

   "With every scream that they hear it will eventually break down the people" He said walking towards me with Stephen right behind him. He had me backed into a corner. I knew what was going to happen but I was going to put up one hell of a fight. He then put both hands around my neck and started to come me. I felt a panic start to rise and realized it wasn't just my own. Leon could feel everything that was going on. I wanted him to feel me fight so I stretched my right arm straight up between his arms and brought it down on his right elbow. When I did his grip loosened enough for me to grab his arm and I threw him into the wall. The feel of his body connecting into the hard wall felt amazing but it was short lived when Stephen intervened. After he had me where I couldn't move i couldn't help but to inform them they were p*****s which I was rewarded with a slap in the face. I smiled seeing how predictable they were. So I spoke the blood that was in my mouth all over Stephen's face. They finally got me on the bed when the door was being thrown open. Did they seriously call for back up?  When I turned I saw rage in the eyes of none other than my love. 

   "Come join us you are our gama and we share our spoils" says Gage. I seen his fist clench to his side and I knew he was wanting to kill someone so I shook my head a little too let him know not to do anything stupid. I couldn't risk losing him. 

   "I do appreciate the offer but I'm saving myself for my mate" I hear him say and I see his eyes fill in defeat but not for long because he knew how much those words meant to me. They did unspeakable things and I did quit fighting because even though I was there physically I was gone with my mate in a world of our own. We stared into each other's eyes and I knew it hurt him seeing this but he'd be by my side through everything
