It wouldn't have been possible without two people in my life". She paused and became a little emotional as tears lingered but they held their peace as it refused to drop. A pause emanated before she continued her sentence. "Thank you Godmother and to my dear friend Rosalina.. without you guys, I couldn't have made it to the podium right here”. Audrey had just finished her sentence when the crowds thundered a deafening applause. She got down with a red sleeveless dress that flowed through the green carpet. The paparazzi took to their pace as the lights glittered in her eyes. Today, Audrey has not only made her debut in the fashion industry but also five other companies have partnered with her. It was a joyous occasion. The whole room glittered in the illuminated lights. The colours of the decorations added more beauty to the elegant dresses the visitors wore. She moved into the restroom to wash her hands as a smile cut across her face. It was something fulfilling. " I wouldn't be here without some set of people ", she soliloquized. " I never really thought" .................. There was a pause in her mind as she went blank all of a sudden. It was evident she had something to say. Silence emanated as both Audrey and Rosa stared at Godmother while they paused their food. "I.......... I have picked a blind date for you today", she kept talking as Rosa suddenly burst into laughter. " Mom"! Audurey called out as she couldn't stop giggling. " who certainly needs a man when they are successful", she said jokingly. "I will get married soon, don't rush me", Audrey continued as she dropped a spoon of pasta in her mouth, while Rosa didn't stop laughing her heart out. ****** As Audrey sat up on her Huge wide bed, she couldn't help but feel sleepy yet she felt so much awake. she tossed on the bed as she finally lay down, "I don't know what to do” she mumbled out, as she stared at the blank ceilings. Her godmother's words came back to her like the rushing of lightning. "That was true", she said. it wasn't like she was getting any younger, but there was a reason. A reason she had always rejected any man who came across her way. The reason why she held her heart so solid. It was best known to nobody except Audrey. Her mind wandered off to her past as her heart kept racing fast in pace… Flashback: “Oh no! The rain is about to fall.” It was just 7 pm in the night. I’d be stuck in the middle of nowhere if the rain started to pour. Thunderstruck and lightning stretched in the sky. I was wearing a sleeveless gown, and in no time I caught a cold already. The rain started to pour heavily and slowly night began to creep in. The deafening roars of nature sounded and I tried to cover my ears to prevent the sounds from entering or causing any harm. I was almost there! Almost! "who leaves their house to go and meet someone when the rain has shown signs that it is about to fall". That was nobody but Audrey! I loved my high school boyfriend like he was my life and I’d be there in times of storms for him. I was willing to sacrifice everything for him. Everything! To make him happy. I was soaking in the rain as the black sleeveless dress I wore was soaked and drenched. Finally, I got to the door and pressed the buzzer. "Hi babe,” I spoke up looking intensely into his gray eyes. He stared at me for a few minutes before he allowed me to come in. “Damn!” I felt so cold and he handed me a towel for me to get a quick bath. I blushed for a few seconds before getting the towel and I walked majestically to the bathroom. "Make sure to take a hot bath,” he said and I slowly nodded while walking off. I finished bathing and I looked at my reflection in the mirror that stood right in front of me. I stared at my flawless skin and my long silky hair as it flowed down. Slowly, I plastered a smile on my face as I wore the pyjamas he had put in the bathroom. “Jakes!” “Jakes!” I called out as I spotted him taking a soda from the fridge. He just looked at me and smiled. "Babes, try to chillax,” he let out a loud chuckle before he went to sit on the couch located in between the kitchen and the dining. "I was thinking we should go clubbing tonight," he added while looking at me to get my reaction. "Hmm, not bad .....but it's raining heavily,” I responded while staring into his eyes. I looked at my perfect boyfriend once more. "His abs....damn!” I whispered He looked like a demigod, always! "Hey! You,” he called out, dragging me out of my imagination. Slowly, I plastered a fake smile on my face. "Let's go clubbing, Jakes. Truly, it's boring staying indoors the whole night," I said. Slowly, I opened his wardrobe, and most of my dresses were there. Of course, he was my boyfriend and so many times I'd just like to spend the night at his place. I picked out a black pink-dress that he had bought for me a few months back. As I slowly walked to the shoe rack, looking for a particular shoe. “Oh yes! There you are,” I smiled as I looked at the shoe once again. “We're gonna rock and roll.” I had finished applying makeup when Jake walked into the room. He was wearing a black leather jacket with black crazy jeans. He had this chain on and I had to admit for a second that he looked like a gangster. If I didn't know him, I would tag him as one. "My lady,” Jake humored as he stretched his hands. I slowly stood up and stood in front of him. ****** The party was wild as usual with different strippers dancing and shaking their butts. We were on the dance floor when Jake suddenly pulled me closer to him. He kissed me passionately and I couldn't even keep up with the amount of times we kept kissing. I was wearing a very skimpy gown and I felt his touch go beneath me. He was trying to pull my underwear and I grabbed his hand, urging him not to go further. "Please Audrey, please,” his voice was all I heard at that moment. His grip was still tight on me as I shifted my gaze from the demigod standing right at my front. I had a few glasses of whiskey but I tried my best to stand firm in my words. He kept plastering kisses right from my neck to...... "Jakes, I know you’ve tried, but... I told you I didn't want this from the beginning." "To hell with it from the beginning," Jake shouted as he fired back at me. Everyone's gaze shifted towards our direction. We were absent-minded that the music had stopped a few seconds ago. He was about to walk out of the club when I said, “At least drop me off at home, Jakes." He stopped in his tracks and muttered to himself, “If I leave her right there, I would portray myself as a terrible boyfriend. The club was wild at that moment and leaving her right there was not an option.” He came back and grabbed my wrists hurtfully. I felt the pain inflicted on me right at that moment and flinched but guessed he was more hurt rather than what I had just received. The drive home was silent and I looked at him but he just held sternly to the wheels as he continued to drive. The downpour of the rain was heavy and it continued to rain heavily. Suddenly he stopped and he motioned for me to get down. “Holy freak it's raining!” I yelled "Get down,” his voice fired back at me and his face showed no emotions. "How would I get down? It's raining, can’t you see?” I stood glued to the chair and acted as if the deafening sounds of the rain blocked my hearing. This guy was surely nuts, that was one thing I didn't like about Jake. His Anger! His rage! They controlled him like a burning fire. ******* "Jakes, why are you ghosting me? This isn't fair,” I was back in his house and he just kept climbing the stairs ignoring me. I slowly took off my heels, holding them tightly in my hands while following Jake steadily at his back. "Jakes!” I called out once again and he still ghosted me, giving me a stern look. He sat on his bed as I slowly took off the gown that was soaked with water already. It was only my underwear and bra that remained tight on my body. I took a towel and I slowly walked into the bathroom. As I was about to walk into the bathroom, with only a step away, I felt a hand grab my waist and lips plastered on mine violently. It was violent! I don't feel comfortable anymore and I tried to break free from his hold, but his grip was too tight on me. “Jakes?” I struggled to say while banging my hands on his hard chest for him to stop. He didn't and that made my heart beat widely. ‘What was he going to do?’ My heart raced as fast as it could. I didn't know what to do anymore. He soon caged me to the wall as his strong hands served as a barricade, blocking me against the wall. All in, he was hurting me and I tried to stop him but... “Jakes stop!” His hands slowly reached for my underwear and he pulled it off. I was beginning to fear the unknown as I swallowed nothing. Absolutely nothing. My heart began to beat faster than usual as I struggled to break free but I couldn't. I kept struggling to ...... “Jakes please .........” Audrey's faint voice croaked.
