Layla's POV
I was stunned. Who the heck was Arnold Rivers, and why did his not meeting him anger him so much?
Curious, I decided to search the internet. I needed to know who Davis was, and on a second thought who Arnold Rivers was.
I was certainly not prepared for the shock that came with discovering that Davis was no other person than Kyle Davis, the youngest and fastest rising billionaire and every girl's crush, except me, seeing as I had not been able to recognize who he was.
I wasn't a hobbit, I was just too engrossed in being the best girlfriend that I was too busy to take an interest in other people, especially men.
I was at a loss for what to do or where to go at the moment. I had left my bags behind at the incident of the fire, been literally thrown out of my house, and now I was indebted to a billionaire that was waiting to be repaid.
I decided I was going to take one step at a time. Foremost, I was going to get discharged.
Next I will book a room in a hotel and then go back to see if I can still get my bags, then do a bit of research on Arnold Rivers, whoever he was, to see if I could arrange for Kyle to meet him.
Lastly, I would sit and plan my life and how to get my business up and running again.
For now, all I was going to do was rest because I had a long line of activities waiting to be done.

Kyle's POV
I was presently in my office looking through some documents, but I could not concentrate because I kept hearing Layla's voice in my head saying sadly that there was no one to call.
I was angry. I shouldn't remember her. I had done my part; taken her to the hospital, stayed there all night and paid the bills, so why was she still plaguing my mind?
When I could not take it anymore, I decided to call the guy I usually hired to carry out private investigations for me.
"Hello Kyle on the line, I have a job for you".
"HI, Kyle it's been a while". "Did someone get away with your money again?" he asked, sounding eager and ready to take on another assignment.
It was his readiness to take on the job that made him reliable and so, any I had such jobs I called him.
"Nobody got away with anything this time around". I replied, making him chuckle.
"You know, Kyle, if someone was listening in on this phone call, they wouldn't believe I am your best friend with how business-like you sound" he said, still chuckling,
"And now they will know I have a best friend and try to use you to get to me" I answered, teasing him.
I knew Gabriel Matthews was not weak, so anybody that thought of using him to get to me was in trouble. People said I had a cold exterior and maybe that was true, but when it came to those I regarded as family, I could go to lengths for them.
"So tell me what am I working on today?" he asked, his voice pulling me back to the present.
"Well, it's a girl". "Her name is Layla Smith..." I added quickly before he could cut me short.
"Kyle, if I understand you perfectly, you are trying to tell me a girl caught your attention finally?"
"For heaven's sake I never said so..." I muttered, hoping he would just agree to look her up without any other unnecessary assumptions.
"Okay, I will look her up" he finally, agreed, hanging up.
I put my phone back and decided to focus on the work I had to do when someone interrupted the process by barging into my office.
I was about to blunt out profanities at whosoever had the audacity to barge into my office as well as to prepare to give my secretary a piece of my mind when I looked up.
"What the hell, Gabriel, you just hung up, and now you are here?" I asked, surprised by his sudden appearance.
"Well, well, well, I was in the neighborhood and couldn't pass up coming here to learn more about the lady my best friend wants me to look up".
"I bet she is gorgeous".
"Gabriel, can you just look her up?"
"Yeah, I will, I just want to know how you met and do you have a picture or something?"
"Well, I have a copy of her ID..." I said slowly, anticipating the barrage of questions about to come.
"Her ID, Kyle". "How come, what did you do?" Gabriel asked, looking at me suspiciously.
"Look, I didn't do anything okay" I responded, proceeding to give him the ID and also tell him about the accident, so the questions would stop.
"Found her!" Gabriel exclaimed excitedly about five minutes later after narrating my story.
Apparently, he had begun his search without my knowledge.
"There isn't so much about her personal life on her f*******: page, it's mainly business," he said.
"She runs a business that makes jewelry and that's about what I can get from here" he concluded.
"Her page doesn't say anything about family or anything?" I asked, thinking back to when she had said there was no one to call.
"No it doesn't" Gabriel replied, his focus still on his device.
Sighing, I decided I was going to go back to the hospital to at least to check up on her and make sure she had fully recovered.

I walked into her ward just as Doctor Brian was writing her discharge paper, meaning I would have missed her if I had come fifteen minutes later.
"Hey Doctor Brian, how is she doing?" I knew she was staring at me with confusion etched on her face. She was probably wondering why I was back here, especially after I had rudely left earlier on.
"She is okay, just needs to take her meds and rest, in one week she should be completely fine" he replied, writing down something in his note.
"Alright, Miss Smith, ensure ou take your medication and sleep well". "If you feel any pain anywhere, just call me" he said, handing her his card.
"Thank you so much Doctor, I will reach out if I need to, she said, standing up".
"Bye then, I have an emergency I need to attend to" he said to both of us as he rushed out.
As he left, Layla turned towards me, looking at me suspiciously.
"Why are you back here, what do you want? she asked her voice laced with curiosity, a tinge of anger and suspicion.
