Chapter 4 Buying a Car (Part 2)

841 Words
When test driving a 911, Liu Yue usually wouldn't accompany due to the cramped rear seats, making entry and exit inconvenient. However, today she felt Su Wei's determination to purchase a car was strong, prompting her personal involvement for better communication. After the three of them got in the car, the instructor drove for a stretch before allowing Su Wei to take the wheel himself. Initially, everything seemed normal, with the instructor explaining the car's parameters and features. However, when the car reached an undeveloped road section, the instructor performed a demonstration of the car's acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour, then abruptly braked as it hit 200 kilometers per hour. After that, he initiated a drift and a 180-degree turn, followed by acceleration and abrupt braking at 120 kilometers per hour. Sitting in the passenger seat, Su Wei gripped the handle tightly, his mouth spewing profanities, contemplating assaulting the instructor. Yet, the most absurd reaction came from Liu Yue, who cried for help in the back seat. As soon as the car stopped, she rushed out, doubled over by the roadside retching, contemplating murder. Initially, she intended to have a meaningful conversation with Su Wei. Even if they couldn't be lovers, being friends would suffice, perhaps better than a mere client relationship. However, her vomiting erased all such intentions. Su Wei had a favorable impression of Liu Yue. Money emboldens a man, and with Su Wei having so much of it, his courage was gradually growing. But after this incident, he felt indifferent. As the road was still closed to traffic and serving as a test drive track for several 4S stores, there were no places to buy water nearby. Luckily, there was unopened water in the 911 test car, preventing Liu Yue from dehydration-induced silence. On the way back, Su Wei took the wheel, not daring to engage in fancy maneuvers, merely experiencing the car's acceleration and braking. The handling of sports cars differed significantly from regular ones; the responsiveness in steering was much greater, akin to a precision instrument. Moreover, the power of the car surpassed that of his family's Volkswagen Lavida. "Xiao Liu, find out the available configurations for the 911. I intend to purchase one today," Su Wei referred to Liu Yue as "Xiao Liu," despite her being older, leaving Liu Yue somewhat speechless. "Mr. Su, do you have any specific requirements regarding the price? The price range for the 911 varies significantly," Liu Yue asked. "Price is not an issue, as long as it catches my eye," Su Wei believed he could afford multiple top-of-the-line 911s with just a day's worth of interest. Once they returned, Liu Yue took Su Wei to the negotiation room and began checking the inventory for available 911s on the computer. Within minutes of Su Wei playing with his phone, Liu Yue returned with keys to several cars, indicating they should inspect the actual vehicles in the warehouse. "Mr. Su, since you base your purchase on personal preference, let's head straight to the warehouse to inspect them. I've brought the keys along," Liu Yue suggested. "Very well, let's hurry. I have other matters to attend to," Su Wei truly did, as he needed to buy clothes. Purchasing a car was different from those conjured by the system; it required insurance to hit the road. Even without license plates, temporary permits were necessary, requiring a trip to the vehicle registration office. 4S dealerships lacked the capability to provide these directly; documents had to be submitted. There were a total of seven 911s in stock in the warehouse, with two more en route. Since Su Wei wished to drive away today, only the available stock was considered. "This yellow 911 looks impressive, quite handsome," Su Wei remarked. "Mr. Su, you have excellent taste. This is the most expensive 911 in our store. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.9 seconds. Most cars on the road that can outperform it cost over ten million," Liu Yue informed. "What model is this? It seems remarkable," Su Wei inquired. "This model is the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series, manufactured in May 2017. It arrived at our dealership at the end of last month. The suggested retail price is 3.09 million. It's fully equipped, with an additional 130,000 in accessories. Currently, it's available at a discounted price of 3.22 million, reduced to 2.95 million after discount. It's a worthwhile investment," Liu Yue explained. Though the car cost over three million, few were willing to pay such a sum for a 911. Even though it outperformed Ferrari and Lamborghini in performance, many would still opt to pay more for a Ferrari, given its prestige. "This car's paperwork is in order at the store, correct? If so, I'll take it. The other cars don't evoke the same feeling," Su Wei decided. "The paperwork is all set. This car hasn't been pledged to any financial company. You can drive it away the same day. Let's return to the negotiation room to rest while I
