It took them a little while to organize themselves and they ended up climbing the steps to the front door of Mile End Hospital soon after lunch. Alec had gone with them. He clearly didn’t want to let Lew out of his sight with Fenn around. Lew wasn’t sure what Alec thought he was going to be able to do if Fenn did decide to attack any of them, but he supposed that it was the thought that counted. He took it in the spirit in which it was intended.
Fenn seemed different now, though. Less guarded, certainly toward Grant. And Grant was treating them differently in turn.
