Chapter one As Lily walked through the forest, her heart sank into that old familiar low of solitude just like it used to. The forest was her peace, A place where she could run to without feeling the odd one out among her pack. The rustle of the cool breeze within overhead treetops and earthy pine scent beneath her offered scant comfort. However, tonight was distinctly different. There was another type of smell sharp, strong and entirely unrecognizable. It wasn’t from her pack. Her wolf popped into attention, sensing the unfamiliar smell. She took a quick stop just before reaching it. An alert ran through her brain Lily marched in the direction of the scent without a second thought, stomping deeper and deeper into this cursed forest. There was a strong pull, almost like she had been tugged towards him. Her heart beating in her chest, excitement lancing through a nerve-ending cocktail of fear. She had no idea what was going on, but something made her keep moving down to the stage. Then, she saw him. A tall man with dark hair and piercing blue eyes that could have easily cut the dusk stood alone in a small clearing. He was not of her pack that much she knew. But she was most of struck by the air he carried. He was an Alpha. He did, and for that moment the whole world disappeared as he turned to her. He loomed in her vision, and Lily was lost to him even if it was awkward newlywed stuff by a couple thousand years back home. He was something her wolf recognized, and it had a beat that made her pulse pick up with excitement. “Who are you?” She whispered, her voice barely audible with trembling uncertainty. “Sorry,” her heart skipped a beat when he answered, his voice was deep and commanding but gentle. “And you?” Lily,” she said, her voice less shaky now but her heart still pounding behind some invisible fleshy wall. They stared at one another for a long moment, neither moving. There was something in the air between them, energy when came from Edward that Lily didn´t know recognize but neither could deny. And there was something else, too a bond that had formed between them; more than just strangers passing in the night, or day. Aiden inched forward but never took his eyes off hers. He leaned closer to me and whispered it, as though he were about to reveal a dark secret or making an admission of sorts.“There is something different with you Lily. Something… I have sought after. He knew that he was too tough of a customer for Lily to have an answer. She simply could not convey in words the feeling of him making her have woken from a long slumber, like she was only now opening up fresh new eyes on the world. She felt uneasy, like something big was coming. “Why are you here?” Any of those," she said, lacking, needing a reason…needing to know what it was about him that called out to her. Aiden's eyes narrowed, and she could tell what he was going for next. Me being here is by choice,” he began slowly, his voice rife with significance. but I sure as hell never expected to see you again.” Not yet.” Lily spun her thoughts, overlaying his words. He had a way of making her feel, but that was all she could give him His effect on her alive as though unearthed something long since buried unchanged for the digging. An evening grew old, shadow spans stretched out on forest floor for miles to rise from mother Earth; and in her heart of hearts, Lily knew that the course of her days had changed. Finally, she could rid herself of belonging to the same category as him: not quite unrecognizable. She was something different, now more than ever with this allusive Alpha who had just walked into her world. Part of her had always known that, somewhere deep down. Nothing would ever be the same again Lily sat next to Aiden in the clearing, still trembling after her confrontation. The sun set and the forest cast long shadows across the ground. Aiden grit his teeth and panted heavily from the fight he just came out of. ‘We really should be gone’ Aiden said in a rush. “It’s not safe here.” With her heart racing, Lily nodded. She followed behind Aiden as he walked through the woods. A tranquil forest now teemed with hidden terrors. Some rustling of leaves or twig snap that would puncture her fear and send Lily screaming. Aiden looked at her over his shoulder as they began walking again. That wolf who attacked us, it was part of anything but a pack. Some other stuff that doesn't want us together are some of those. Lily’s fear grew. “Why are they after us?” Aiden’s jaw tightened. They do not wish for me to unify the packs. They think I’m a threat.” Lily did her best to keep up with them but the forest grew dim too rapidly. A thousand thoughts raced through her mind. “What can we do?” Aiden had stopped and turned back to her. “We need to go to my camp. “Not only that its secure, we can figure out our next move there. Lily followed Aiden into the thickening jungle, still trying to get her head together. The long and winding road, the darkness making it difficult to see. She could feel the danger all around her, pressing down hard. At last, they came to a small clearing and in the middle of it was an ordinary tent. Aiden motioned for her to get in. "Today, this is our sanctuary of last resort." The tent, once you entered it was rather warm and stacked full of materials to make useful tools out of objectives. Aiden did the same and lit a little fire so that they could keep warm. When the light flickered, shadows were long and reached across tent walls. “Then we will spend the night here,” Aiden murmured, though gentler now. “Tomorrow we shall plan our course of action. Lily plopped herself down and tried to still her mind. What if they find us? Across from her, Aiden stared steadily at his hands. “We’ll be ready. I won’t let them hurt you.” Anyone!IndexNextAs the flames crackled Lily watched Aiden and saw absolute fire in his eyes. She knew the path that lay ahead would be dangerous, but for a moment she felt something like hope. Maybe they could take what came next on, with Aiden by her side. It was hours later into the evening, and the noises of outdoors mixed with pops from a low smoldering fire. Lily lay down but still sleep eluded her. Her mouth opened to call softly, the weight of their situation resting heavily upon her. She took some hope from that, even through the fear. Their days ahead were filled with fresh obstacles, but Lily was sure of one thing: Aiden would help her to take them on. Charged with that idea, she was able to push onward.
