Chapter Four
After a long night of surveillance, Lily and Aiden returned to their camp. The forest was merely in a state of being awash with the first light rays just beginning to peek over. Even if Lily tried to appreciate how nice the day looked, there was an uneasy presence that clouded over them.
Aiden was thoughtful for the duration of their walk, lost in contemplation about what to do next. He started to gather his stuff as soon they got back at the camp. Lily saw him think.
“What’s the plan?” she said, while helping him pack.
Aiden raised his head with a solemn face. “We need to move quickly. I have alerted the other packs to what we know about the plans of these rogues. They plan to attack —- but we must do so quickly for their protection.
Lily swallowed, her nerves stretching tighter. “What should we do?”
“Those packs could have been dropped off here.annis,” Aiden said Nay.devolging So long as there are not any surprises here waiting for us. And we also need to see if there are any c****s in their armor that we can take advantage of.”
They closed their cases and moved with vigor out the door How dark the forest when it had been so inviting only yesterday! Lily was jumping at each noise, but she attempted to remain poised.
Coming up to the territory of the nearest pack, Aiden had no difficulty taking charge. They were wary and took care to avoid any trace of the rogue wolves. There was a palpable tension, but she drew something from Aiden sitting next to her.
Aiden offered a nod to the Alpha when they arrived at the packs camp site. The Alpha was a towering man, with piercing eyes He smirked in both respect and a little trepidation towards Aiden.
The Alpha growled, the deep of his voice more a command than any words. “Aiden.” “You made it. What’s the situation?”
Aiden discussed what the rogue wolves were up to, they could not waste time. The Alpha looked close to breaking; whatever was being said had an impact on him.
After he had finished, the Alpha said: “Thank you for your warning. “Obviously, we are fully prepared to protect ourselves; however, the number of your opponents and their intended entrees would be very important information for us.”
Aiden spoke “well, i can help with that” “Lily, you and I will survey their camp for as much detail as possible.”
The Alpha nodded looking relieved. “Be careful. We will bolster our defenses and expect your report.
There back on the move Lily and Aiden to Posts camp of Rogue Wolves. They were swift, and silent as they ran behind the trees.ForegroundColor. The trees were thick and the path treacherous, despite that fact Aiden traveled well.
As soon as they reached the camp where the rogue wolves set up their den, both of them knelt down behind a bunch of trees. The camp was alive and bustling. Lily could make out the rogues readying themselves with blades and going over their plans. There was a tension in the air so thick you could almost feel it with your hands.
His eyes darted vigilantly from place to place across the landscape as Aiden made one swishing motion of his hand after another. We have to be stealthy, close enough to hear what they are saying in order not seem suspicious. Let’s move.”
They crept nearer, keeping out of view. Lily heard the rogues talking about how they would go ahead closer. It is a planned assault on the pack's territory, meant to take them unawares.
Lily felt a shiver of fear. The rogue wolves were very resolute and organised. They needed to put a stop them before it was too late.
But Aiden of course, gave the that-will-do-sign to lily They backtracked to the pack site, doing so silently. They kept each other company and moved cautiously through the sounds of kids going wild. The rogue wolves could be anywhere; they knew this.
They reported their findings to the Alpha when they got back to camp with pack. The Alpha's face grew more and more worried as Aiden told him about the rogue wolves plans.
ALERT! “We must ready for full scale assault,” Aiden declared. They want to overrun us and crush our defenses.
The Alpha nodded, grim. And we need to fortify our defenses and get ready for a fight. Thank you for your help.”
Lily and Aiden got to work helping the pack, working in conjunction with wolves on making sure that their defenses were strengthen taking hours setting traps. The air was thick with tempo and motion Each wolf was intent on the job in hand – getting ready for when they were to be needed.
When night came, the pack was set up in there camp. The wolves were looking out, and it was fortified. Lily and Aiden sat by the fire to rest for a moment.
Aiden was tired, but his voice held firm. “Now we wait.”
Lily nodded, a combination of weariness and dread creeping over her. What if the rogues figured out a way through our defenses?
Aiden held her gaze. We will address it if it happens. It is not in our nature to fear the darkness — We are trained and we will defend what the pack holds dear.
The night passed slowly and fearfully, each sound setting Lily's heart racing. She clung to Aiden like a shield. The hours felt long but compared to what was next they had no idea.
The pack spent the night, and warded off all comers. Lily and Aiden kept an arm's length apart, waiting for whatever trick the outcasts would play. This was just the start of their struggle for life and they were up to it.
