Starry Night
“Hello mom”, I said as I got into the car.
“Hello little man”, replied Mom with a smile.
I closed the car door and we drove of the school driveway. My name is Killian Scott. Red hair, pale skin, green eyes, and fourteen years old. Meet my mother Pamela Scott. She has pale skin, blue eyes, and fawn hair. When we got home. We got off the car and went inside. As we passed by my dad’s study he was peacefully working on some documents. “KILLS!!!” , called Kila from behind. “Guess what I got on my science paper?” , she continued, “an A+!!!!” . I said, “Good job Ila” Meet Kila Scott my little sister only one year younger than me and the kindest girl ever, l’m betting Gucci on that, and even though she has Dad’s red hair, she is all Mom. Kila has her pale skin, petite structure, her face, her pale blue eyes that shine more than sapphires. She even has some of her habits and most definitely her kind personality. People sometimes tease her at school, but I take care of it.
“Kids it’s time for dinner”, Mom calls from the kitchen. “Coming!”, Kila responds . We both sat down at the table and talked about our day at school. Dad joined us at the table and was quiet as a mouse. Meet my dad, William Scott, tall, athletic, red hair and green eyes. He is a lawyer and very passionate when it comes to his work. At last, Mom joined us and we started eating. My parents mentioned how their day went and so on. Finally, we finished supper and Kila asked, “Mum can me and Kills walk around the neighborhood?”. Mum snapped angrily, “ You kids are going out too much, after this less time outdoors for you”. “Ok”, both Kila and I said in unision. “We love you”. Mom and Dad replied with “ We love you too.” After rushing out of the house, and walking for a few minutes in the autumn breeze, Kila said, “Kills, have you noticed, anything weird going on with mom?” “Not really”, I replied, “Other than she snapping at us earlier.” Kila said, “Kills, I’m serious. I love Mom but, she barely lets me go out at all!” I said, “You keep pushing for more freedom don’t you?”, I asked with a smirk.”You got to wait Ila, if mom didn’t let me go out at your age, you can’t go out too.” Kila said, “Yes, I know, but, I got GROUNDED for a week, just for going out on the porch without permission for some fresh air !” She went on,”It wasn’t even that far! And Mom never had a problem with me going out to the porch without her permission; not that I remember.”
I said, “Mhm, that does sound weird and quite excessive with the punishment, considering how Mom usually is.” We kept walking and I said, “Now that you mention it, Dad has been moodier and looses his temper more easily these days. He has also gotten some sketchy calls.” “Really?”,Kila asked. “Yes, the kind that he speaks in Irish, doesn’t blow up as much, and only answers them in his study, in case we are snooping around .”,I replied. We both stayed silent and continued walking down the street. The sun was starting to go down; everything was quiet. Me and Kila were lost in our own thoughts. Some could be about Mom and Dad’s change, other thoughts, who knows. Kila broke the silence, “Did you notice when they started to change? Mom and Dad changed little by little that you didn’t notice it, but I did, around a while ago. I just thought, it could be a bad day, that it wasn’t my business, or that I was overthinking.” I said, “Maybe I didn’t notice Mom, but I think I noticed Dad. It was mostly because you brought it to my attention though. Relax Ila, they’re probably just stressed out.”And we were right, just needed one more piece of the puzzle; why would they be stressed out? The sun was setting down. Twilight was breaking through. Out of the blue we heard screaming, yelling, and cops’ sirens. Me and Kila knew this wasn’t good. We had a slight feeling, just a speck of intuition that this had to do with everything going on with our parents lately, but we shook it off as panic though. “We should get back, don’t want to blow our only chance at freedom. Plus, Mom will be worried sick and upset.”, I said, shakily. Me and Kila tried walking home to calm us down. We failed though, and we found ourselves running back home, hoping we were wrong, only to find cops sorounding our house, yellow Caution tape everywhere, and our parents being dragged out in body bags. Back at the street, we knew it had to do with us but, we didn’t want to admit or think much about it , because we didn’t want it to be true. ‘Cause me and Kila are one of those people that are hardly ever wrong when it comes to their intuitions or, anything else for that matter. Right now though, we wish we didn’t have this gift or, that we were wrong just this once. Now, the sky was dark blue and diamonds were stars; it was night. Who knew all of this could happen, below a beautiful starry night sky.
