Episode 2:The Mirror Of Time

491 Words
The morning bell rang through Eldoria Academy, but for Lyria Vale, the sound felt distant—like an echo from another world. She sat at her desk in Spell Theory, staring at the faint silver mark now etched on her wrist. It shimmered softly under the sunlight, a reminder of the night before. Her classmates whispered about her distracted look, but Lyria barely noticed. Every time she blinked, she saw flashes of the other Eldoria—the crumbling halls, the twin moons, and the silver-eyed stranger who had called himself Kael. When the class ended, Lyria slipped away to the library. The same book, Chronicles of the Silver Veil, lay open on the table where she had left it. But now, strange symbols glowed faintly across its pages. As she traced them with her finger, the air rippled, and Kael’s voice echoed softly. “You’ve crossed the threshold once. The Veil remembers you now.” Lyria turned sharply. Kael stood between the shelves, his form half-transparent, as if he existed between moments. “What is happening to me?” she demanded. “Why can I see both worlds?” Kael’s expression was grave. “Because you are the Key. The Veil connects two timelines—yours and mine. When the moons align, the barrier weakens. You were chosen by the Moon’s Shadow to restore balance before both worlds collapse.” Before Lyria could respond, the library door burst open. Professor Arwen, the school’s head of magical studies, entered with a stern look. “Miss Vale,” she said, “you’ve been meddling with forbidden texts.” Her eyes flicked to the glowing book. “Do you have any idea what that is?” Lyria hesitated. “It’s just research—” But Arwen raised her hand, and the book snapped shut with a burst of light. “That tome belongs to the Founders’ Era. It should not exist in this timeline.” Kael’s voice whispered urgently in Lyria’s mind. She doesn’t know the truth. The professors are bound by the Veil’s illusion. You must find the Mirror of Time before they seal it away. The room trembled. For a moment, Lyria saw two versions of Professor Arwen—one stern and alive, the other spectral and ancient, her eyes hollow with moonlight. Then the vision vanished. Lyria clutched her satchel and fled the library, her heart pounding. She didn’t know where the Mirror of Time was, but she knew one thing: the line between her world and Kael’s was fading fast. That night, as the twin moons rose again, Lyria stood at the edge of the courtyard. The silver mark on her wrist pulsed in rhythm with the moonlight. Somewhere deep within the academy, a hidden door shimmered into existence—its surface reflecting not her face, but another version of herself, cloaked in shadow. The reflection smiled. “Welcome back, Lyria of the Shadow Veil.” End of Episode 2
