Chapter 22

What the hell was happening?! The powerful centipedes were quickly losing! The five had changed the tide of the battle so much, hell the other two hadn’t even arrived yet!

The centipedes retreated frantically, their instincts were going berserk! These humans were no joke!

The queen shrieked as she saw her army retreating, this shriek was even louder than before. Some of the guards’ ears bled as the shriek went on.

The queen finally stopped and with her giant earth earth crushing head, she charger at the barrier. “Retreat!” The guards fled as they saw the queen heading towards them. It was death to stay near it!

The head approached on and on until there was no less gap between it than the space between one's teeth. But just in the nick of time, she stopped and started…retreating? No, something was pulling back.

Two miniscule figures compared to the queen centipede held it by its back legs, preventing it from moving forward.

The centipede tried to move forward but the two figures held her down. Old man ling and old man Xiao’s muscles bulges as they dragged the centipede. Their bodies had transformed from the far mess they once were to that of two strong men with the most perfectly defined muscular features.

Two warrior centipedes left the battle they were fighting and immediately rushed at old man ling and old man Xiao. The queen orders were absolute, they had to break that barrier to get that bastard hiding inside who killed the Prince.

Zylong was quick to come to the rescue and he ran fast enough to reach the two before the centipedes could act. He tried to run through them like with the earlier centipedes but luck was not on his side.

As his leg hit the centipede, it didn’t cut through like expected but instead the sound of bones breaking greeted his legs and he dropped to the ground screaming in agony.

“fool!” Bauxia shouted and the crowd around him dived at the two centipedes in hopes of reaching them before they reached the two brothers. But time was past and the hundred legs were quick.

The two centipedes used their mighty head and crashed into the two brothers sending them flying away from the legs of the queen. The mother centipede shrieked as she felt no force holding her back again. She charged straight at the barrier and one hit was all it took.

The surface of the barrier rippled and a loud noise was heard like a bomb exploding. Soon after, the light of the barrier flickered and then it was no more. Shrieks sounded from everywhere as the retreating centipedes charged at the village.

“defend the line!!” lykeson commanded his disciples, if the centipedes successfully entered the village it would be a nightmare for its residents and could possibly spell the disaster of the village.

“Everyone, Ocean Gates!” general granger shouted as he moved his hands around in circles and his body like that of troubled waters. Lykeson smiled at general granger and did the same thing. The other members followed granger’s lead and did the same.

As the hands moved and the bodies danced, the moisture in the air slowly gathered at the area where the barrier stayed before. The water rapidly expanded in a way that blocked all available entries of the centipedes.

Carol and kulin watched from the top of the platform, things were not looking good. “ ice wall arrows!” Carol commanded the members and they all picked one arrow from a particular set.

“pick one” Carol nudged kulin. Kulin picked and knocked his bow. “fire!” she ordered and the ones with the arrows released while the ones with the gun like structures shot their bullets.

A multitude of arrows and long bullets landed down on the battlefield in a straight line. Ice grew from the line as it raised high into the air forming a wall that separated the human sized centipedes and warrior centipedes from the queen.

As the queen centipede saw this, she was furious. These humans could go to such lengths to protect one of their own…so annoying! (Imagine this in centipede language -_-) She retreated a distance and charged at the water barricade with her full force.

A loud noise like a huge rock dropped inside an ocean as the water barricade rippled. Many of the waterfall members’ expressions changed. Pain spread around rapidly in their chest region. It was like a sledge hammer had hit them right on the chest!

“Don’t give up!” General granger urged on. He too felt it, but what was a small chest pain compared to the death of hundreds that would occur if the centipedes were successful.

The queen retreated for the second time, preparing another ferocious charge. “Scythe dance; Wing Manifest!” bauxia's voice sounded and as he held his scythe, black wings suddenly grew from his back. They were like those of a giant crow.

The wings flapped and Bauxia flew towards the centipede. He spun his scythe around in a circular manner and when he reached, he struck! A light travelled from the scythe to the queen centipede's backside and sliced it clean off.

The mother centipede roared in pain. Its body shook vigorously as a green gas was released from all regions of its body. A few waterfall members nearby inhaled the gas and they coughed as the flesh in their bodies slowly fell off revealing the vines and tendons…it was a gruesome death!

Bauxia immediately used his wings and covered his whole self, preventing any gas from seeping in. Fortunately, the gas dissipated as quickly as it appeared. Zylong who was lying on the ground was lucky enough to have been saved by the brothers.

While everyone was distracted, the centipede charged at the barrier once again. As it hit it this time, the holding water spilled leaving only about half to remain as a barrier.

Subsequently, over half of the waterfall members spat out blood as they collapsed to the floor. One more hit and it would all be over!
