chapter 3

I threw the phone away. I slept through the night. My phone showed that Ryan had removed me from the blacklist. Moreover, he updated a post on the social software. The photo showed him partying with friends. Ryan was smiling in the photo. I sent him a message again. But before I could finish editing the message, Ryan blocked me again. It seems that the point of him taking me out of the blacklist was just to post a status for me to see. I gripped my phone tightly. After a long time, I got out of bed to change my clothes. The background of the photo was his house. Tonight, I must make it clearly. Whether it is a breakup or something else, I just want a clear answer. My house isn't close to Ryan's. The rain got heavier. The driver gave me an umbrella. I thanked him and gave him some extra money. I opened the umbrella and looked up at the brightly lit house. I rang the doorbell. The maid came out to greet me. When she saw me, she was obviously stunned for a moment: "Miss White." I held my umbrella tighter. “Is Ryan Joe here? I have to see him.” The maid didn't speak. I looked inside the house. It was quiet and there were no friends of Ryan. I realised he wasn't here. The maid had a very embarrassed expression: "Please stop asking. Mr. Ryan has ordered that his whereabouts not be revealed to you, and you are not allowed to enter his house again." The strength in my hand loosened. The umbrella was blown away. The maid came back with an umbrella and said, "Miss White, you can go back." “Mr. Ryan is such a person. None of us dares to go against his wishes.” I took the umbrella and smiled, 'Thank you.' The maid closed the door. In a storm, an umbrella is useless. Just as I walked out of the eaves, my umbrella was bent by the wind. I hadn't even left Ryan's courtyard yet, and the umbrella had already been blown broken. I called for a taxi for a long time but couldn't find a driver. My body was drenched with rainwater. I had to turn back and knock on the door. Another maid opened the door. She looked at me, covered in a mess, and was intolerant: "Miss White, Mr. Ryan has said that whoever dares to let you in will be fired." "I still have children to support at home. I really can't..." She didn't finish. I shivered and couldn't speak. The person who opened the door gave me a coat. "Miss White, these are my clothes.” "Put it on first." No one disobeyed Mr.Ryan Joe. The maid pointed to the side: "You can hide from the rain there, Miss White.” I thanked her, sat under the eaves, took out my mobile phone, hoping to get a taxi with a surcharge. The price doubled again. A car drove into Ryan’s courtyard. The maids rushed out with umbrellas. I looked up. It was Leon's car. Leon walked quickly towards the house. He stopped suddenly when he passed me. The servant holding an umbrella behind him quickly stopped, nearly bumping into his back. Leon frowned, “Why are you squatting here?” I stood up, my limbs were numb from the cold, "The rain is too heavy, I can't go back..." Leon looked at the maid. The servant explained, "We sent blankets to Miss White." "Mr.Ryan said that Miss White would not be allowed in the door in the future. Otherwise we'll be in trouble. We don't dare to take the liberty." Leon cursed, "Bastard." He thought that I was still sad because of Ryan’s words. He said, "It's not his turn to be in charge of this family." I shook my head and said, "The rain is getting lighter now..." "Mr. Leon, is it convenient to trouble the driver to take me back?" Ryan might have been right. He was determined to end our relationship. I don't need to go back to this place. Leon took the umbrella and nodded at me. “I'll see you off." I looked at the driver getting out of the car. The driver glanced at Leon, pretended to hold his stomach and trotted to the eaves: "I have a stomachache. Mr. Leon, please make this trip for me instead." The two servants beside them looked at each other and said, "Let's go and get some hot water for him!" Leon and I were the only ones left in the courtyard. I got into the car. I was already uncomfortable after being in the rain for so long. If I didn't let Leon drive me, I'd have to wait a long time.
