The First Encounter

The wheels of the aircraft touched the runway smoothly as the plane landed at Valencia Airport. The bright morning sunlight poured through the windows, illuminating the vast runway as the aircraft slowly came to a stop. Through the window, Lina observed the city stretching across the horizon. Valencia looked vibrant under the morning sky — busy streets, shining buildings, and the quiet energy of a city already awake. Beside her, Ayla glanced outside and smiled slightly. “Looks like we’ve reached.” Lina unfastened her seatbelt. “Yes. And the sooner we start, the faster we track those three criminals. They’re probably enjoying their freedom right now.” Ayla stood, adjusting the strap of her bag. “Then let’s end their little vacation.” Within minutes the passengers began exiting the aircraft. Soon Lina and Ayla stepped into the busy Valencia terminal, the sound of rolling luggage and distant announcements echoing around them. Outside the airport, Lina quickly booked a taxi. “Let’s find a lodge nearby. We need some rest before we start moving around the city.” The taxi arrived shortly after. The taxi moved smoothly through the streets of Valencia. Morning sunlight reflected off the glass buildings while cafés along the sidewalks buzzed with early customers. People walked along the streets with cups of coffee in their hands, and the city already felt alive with activity. Lina watched quietly through the window, taking in the unfamiliar city. The streets of Valencia were lively. Small cafés displayed plates of tapas and snacks. Twenty minutes later, the taxi stopped in front of a modest lodge near the city center. Inside the room, Ayla dropped her bag onto the couch with a relieved sigh. “Finally.” Lina glanced around the room briefly before placing her file on the small table. “Freshen up. Then we head out.” Ayla raised an eyebrow. “Already?” “We’re not tourists.” A few minutes later both of them stepped out, dressed casually to blend in with the city crowd. Ayla paused for a moment, studying Lina with a playful smile. “You look stunning in that pink dress.” A small smile appeared on Lina’s face. “Thank you. You look pretty yourself.” Ayla laughed lightly. “Well, let’s hope the criminals appreciate good fashion before getting arrested.” Both of them laughed quietly before heading out of the lodge. Outside, Lina opened her phone again. “First stop — the police department here in Valencia. If those men are hiding in this city, there’s a good chance the local police have heard something." A taxi soon pulled up. Within minutes they arrived at the Valencia Police Department. Inside, the quiet office atmosphere felt very different from the busy nightlife outside. Lina approached the officer at the desk and placed a few photographs on the table. “These men are connected to a case we’re investigating. We believe they fled to Valencia. We’d appreciate any information you might have. The officer studied the photos carefully. “Well… you might be looking in the right place.” He leaned back in his chair thoughtfully. “There’s a street not far from here. A place where criminals often gather. Bars, underground deals, shady business… the kind of place where people prefer not to ask questions.” Ayla exchanged a quick glance with Lina. “Sounds like the perfect place to start.” The officer frowned slightly. “It’s not exactly safe." Lina folded her arms calmly. “We’re quite good at our job.” Ayla nodded confidently beside her. “Don’t worry, officer. We can handle ourselves.” The officer sighed before finally nodding. “Alright. But if you catch those men, contact us immediately. I’ll have officers ready to assist.” “That’s exactly what we need,” Lina replied. “Thank you.” A short while later, another taxi dropped them near the street the officer had mentioned. The atmosphere changed immediately. The bright city lights faded into dim street lamps. Music from distant bars echoed through the narrow roads while shadows stretched across the pavement. Ayla glanced around uneasily. “This place gives me bad vibes.” Lina noticed it too. The street felt darker… rougher. Groups of men stood near the corners, laughing loudly, while the smell of alcohol and smoke lingered heavily in the air. Suddenly Ayla pointed toward a group nearby. “There. Let’s ask them.” The two walked toward the small crowd. Ayla pulled out the photos and held them up. “Excuse me. Have any of you seen these men before?” One of the men in the group leaned forward, squinting slightly at the photo. “Oh… these guys?” He scratched his chin as if trying to remember. “Yeah. Pretty sure I saw them yesterday.” Lina’s attention sharpened instantly. “Where?” The man pointed down the street. “At a bar nearby. Fancy place. Rich people, loud music, expensive drinks.” Lina immediately pulled out her phone and checked the location. According to the map, the place he mentioned was one of the most luxurious bars in Valencia. Ayla looked slightly surprised. “A luxury bar? That’s unexpected.” Lina slipped her phone back into her pocket. “Criminals hiding among wealthy crowds. Smart.” Ayla nodded slowly. “Well… there’s only one way to find out.” A few minutes later they stood outside the bar. Bright lights shone above the entrance while expensive cars lined the street. Music pulsed from inside, and groups of well-dressed people laughed as they entered. Lina studied the place carefully. “This must be it.” Ayla glanced at the glowing entrance. “Looks like the criminals upgraded their lifestyle.” Lina entered the bar, Ayla following closely behind. “Let’s see what they’re hiding.” The moment they stepped inside, the atmosphere changed completely. Music filled the air. Lights flashed across the dance floor. People laughed, danced, and drank while the bar buzzed with energy. Some were celebrating. Some were flirting. Others simply enjoyed the night without a care in the world. But Lina’s eyes were already scanning the room. Inside the bar, Lina’s eyes moved carefully across the crowded room. Music echoed through the hall while colorful lights flashed over the dance floor. Laughter, glasses clinking, and loud conversations filled the air. Then Ayla suddenly slowed. “There.” At a corner table, the three men sat surrounded by a few women, drinks scattered across the table. Lina’s expression hardened. “So they’ve been enjoying themselves.” Before they could move closer, Lina’s phone vibrated. The officer. “I’ve sent a few of my men outside the building,” he informed her. “Once you have the criminals under control, signal them. They’ll take them into custody.” “Understood, officer.” Lina ended the call and glanced at Ayla. “Ready?” Ayla cracked a small confident smile. “Always.” The two walked toward the table. One of the criminals looked up, his gaze drifting lazily over them. “Well… you two look pretty. Want to join us?” Ayla folded her arms, a mocking smile forming. “Oh, you three are definitely going to enjoy what’s coming next.” The man frowned slightly. Before he could respond, Lina stepped forward, her voice calm but firm. “We finally found you.” The laughter at the table slowly faded. “We’re here to arrest you,” Lina continued. The three men exchanged nervous glances. “Time to pay for it.” Suddenly one of them jumped from his seat. Lina reacted instantly. Her gun appeared in her hand. “Hands up.” The command cut through the noise of the bar. Two of the men attempted to run toward the back exit. The moment the criminals reached the exit, several officers stepped forward from the shadows. The police team surrounded them immediately. Within moments the three men were forced to the ground and handcuffed. One of the officers approached Lina and Ayla with a nod. “Good work.” The criminals were taken away. “This was our job.” Not long after, her phone rang again. “You handled the situation well,” the officer said. “The victim deserves justice.” The call ended. For the first time that day, the tension finally faded from Ayla’s shoulders. “Well… that case wrapped up faster than expected.” Ayla and Lina had just stepped out onto the street when a sudden sound broke the quiet night. A sharp thud. Then another. And then a man’s voice—crying, pleading, desperate. The sound of something striking flesh echoed again. Lina stopped instantly. “What the hell is happening there?” “Oh God… sounds like someone’s getting beaten.” Another harsh blow landed somewhere in the distance. “Let’s check it out.” The two moved cautiously toward the sound. A black luxury car stood parked in the middle of the empty street. Around it stood six or seven men dressed in identical black suits. Then the guards slowly moved aside. Behind them stood a man. He straightened slowly. Cold. Controlled. And strangely captivating. His dark eyes lifted—and landed directly on Lina. For a brief moment, the world seemed to fall silent. Those eyes. Sharp. Dangerous. Yet unbelievably calm. Their eyes locked. Neither of them spoke. But in that silent moment, something powerful passed between them. His eyes held danger. End of The Chapter .... Yet for some reason… Lina couldn’t look away. — To be continued —
