Blurb

Liam Hart doesn't do mornings after. One night, no names exchanged unless he feels like it, no regrets, no calls back. That's the rule that's kept his life simple for years.Until Sienna. She wasn't even supposed to be at that party. Quiet, unbothered by the chaos around her, she was nothing like the women he usually noticed, and somehow that made her impossible to ignore. One drink turned into one dance, one dance turned into one kiss, and by the time the night blurred into morning, Liam had broken every rule he'd ever made for himself. But when he wakes up beside her, the guilt hits before the hangover does. She'd been sober enough to know exactly what she was doing. He hadn't been sober enough to remember he should have asked. Now he has to face what one night actually cost them both, and whether the man who never stays is capable of becoming the one who does.

The Party
The party was absolute chaos in the best way. Music pounded so hard I could feel it in my chest, bodies packed into the living room, red Solo cups littering every surface. People were making out against walls, yelling over drinking games in the kitchen, the air thick with beer and cheap cologne. This was the party of the year, and I was already three sheets to the wind. A few hours in, my head felt fuzzy and warm, the room tilting just enough to make walking interesting. That is when my eyes landed on her. She was standing off to the side, dark hair falling around her shoulders, looking way too pretty and way too put together for a night like this. She was not grinding to the music or slamming shots like everyone else. Just holding one drink, watching the madness with this quiet little half smile. I did not even think about it. I pushed through the crowd, heart thumping harder than the bass. "Hey, beautiful," I said, the words coming out a little slurred. She turned, eyebrows going up. "Uh... hey?" "Haven't seen you around before." "That is because I do not usually come to these things." She shrugged, almost apologetic, like she was still deciding if she regretted showing up. "Lucky me you made an exception tonight." I leaned against the wall beside her, trying to play it cool even as the room kept shifting. "I am Liam." A small smile tugged at her lips. "I know who you are. Everyone here does." "s**t, that sounds like a problem." "Not yet," she said softly, taking the tiniest sip from her cup. I noticed hers was still mostly full. Everyone else was sloppy, refilling every five minutes, but she was just holding hers. Like a prop. We kept talking. Nothing crazy. Just easy s**t about the music, how wild the party was getting. She actually listened when I rambled, laughing at my dumb jokes instead of scanning the room for someone better. It felt good. Really good. The music cranked up even louder. A group near the kitchen started cheering some game. I did not want the moment to slip away. "Dance with me," I said, before I could overthink it. "I don't dance." "Neither do I. We will be terrible together. Come on." That got a real laugh out of her. Warm, surprised, the kind that lit up her whole face. She let me take her hand and pull her into the crowded space. We sucked, no question. My feet kept missing the beat, and I nearly tripped once, but she giggled every time I messed up, and somehow that made it perfect. The longer we moved, the closer we got. Her body brushed against mine, warm and soft. When the song slowed down, neither of us pulled away. Her hands rested near my shoulders, mine settled on her waist, and we just swayed there, pressed together in the middle of all the noise. She smelled sweet. Like vanilla and something warm. I could feel her breath against my neck, the way her fingers tightened slightly on my shirt. "Can I tell you something?" she whispered, close enough that her lips brushed my ear. "Yeah." "I almost didn't come tonight." "Why not?" "Parties like this are not really my scene." She glanced up at me, something careful and nervous flickering in her eyes. "But I am really glad I did." I should have asked about that look. Should have slowed down. Instead, I leaned in slow, giving her every chance to pull back. She did not. The kiss started soft, then deepened, her hand sliding up to rest against my chest. She kissed me back like she had been waiting for it, breathing shakily when we finally broke apart. Her cheeks were flushed, eyes a little dazed. "Want to get out of here?" I asked, voice rough. She hesitated, searching my face for what felt like forever. Then she nodded. The walk to the room was hazy. Her hand in mine, fingers laced tight, the noise fading behind us as we slipped down the hallway. I do not even remember whose bedroom it was. The door clicked shut, and everything got quieter. Just us, the distant thump of the party, and this thick, nervous energy in the air. I kissed her again, slower this time, backing her toward the bed. She was tense. Shoulders a little stiff, breath catching every few seconds. I pulled back just enough to look at her. "You okay?" I murmured. "Yeah... just." She swallowed, voice quiet. "Go slow? Please?" I nodded, even though the alcohol made everything feel loose and urgent. We undressed each other between kisses, hands exploring. Her skin was warm and smooth under my palms. I took my time, kissing her neck, her collarbone, touching her until she started breathing harder, until her fingers dug into my shoulders and she arched against me. She was nervous, but she wanted this. I could feel it in the way she pulled me closer, legs wrapping around me. When I finally pushed inside her, she gasped sharply, body going tight. I froze, kissing her softly, whispering how good she felt, waiting until she relaxed and started moving with me. After that it was heat and rhythm. Her quiet moans mixing with mine, nails dragging down my back, bodies slick and pressed together. It was not perfect or gentle the whole way through, but I tried to read her, tried to make it good even through the drunken fog. She came first, trembling around me, and that pushed me over the edge right after. We collapsed together, breathing hard. She curled into my side, head on my chest, and I passed out like that, the room still spinning softly. Morning came way too fast. I woke up with my head pounding like someone was hammering nails into my skull. Mouth dry, stomach queasy. The room was not mine. Sunlight cut through a gap in the curtains, sharp and unforgiving. I rolled onto my back and felt the warmth beside me. Sienna. Dark hair spilled across the pillow, her back to me under the sheet. Pieces came back in flashes. The party, her laugh, that nervous look, the way she had asked me to go slow, the heat of her body, the sounds she made. Then I saw the small dark stain on the sheet near where she had been lying. Blood. My stomach dropped hard. Guilt slammed into me like a truck, heavy and immediate. She had barely drunk anything. She had been so careful, so quiet compared to everyone else. The way she had hesitated. The way she had whispered go slow. I had not put it together last night. Too drunk, too caught up in how much I wanted her. "Fuck..." I whispered, dragging a hand down my face. My chest felt tight, the weight of it settling in deep. She still had not stirred.
