Two Days Left

I slipped on my bathrobe pacing in the room whiles expecting Adrian to call me any moment from now and accuse me of selling company information but the call never came so I punched in the some number and it connected.

‎" What's it this time Aria . How many times do you want to call me in a day ?" he asked angrily and I retorted " It's the next day here . And why am I now learning that Adrian has some special f*****g private forces working under him in secret " I yelled into the phone .

‎The other person on the other end asked shocked " What ?! No such thing was discovered when we had sent the earlier agent to investigate him before you started!".

‎" Well he does and they just got the video of me entering the restricted part of the company. Even though I had slipped on a wig I'm scared Adrian is going to find out . What am I supposed to do ?!" I yelled tears of frustration and pain gliding down my cheeks.

‎" Well then you'd have to leave the country sooner. Grab the necessary informations on the next year's products as you can tomorrow. You're leaving the day after . Be quick Aria Adrian is not to be trifled with . I will inform the boss about this sudden discovery " he muttered and the phone beeped .

‎I sank to the floor bawling my eyes out . Two days was all I had left , yet I didn't want to leave though I was scared of him finding out .

‎I didn't even know when I had dozed off on the hard floor until my eyes snapped open to find part of my body throbbing in pain and numb.

‎I sat up only to realize , Adrian had not returned the whole night . Did he perhaps find out ?.

I quickly got ready for work, checking every now and then if Adrian's text or call would come in, but it never did. I slipped into my heels and walked out of the apartment, only to find Adrian's chauffeur waiting for me as always, except this time, Adrian was not with me.

I gingerly slipped into the back seat and looked through the rearview mirror to find the chauffeur already looking at me. "Do you perhaps know where Adrian is?" I asked, looking at him, and he ignited the engine.

He looked back at me through the mirror and answered, "No, ma'am." I nodded, looking out the window while biting my lips to hold down my anxiety.

We reached the company, and my heart started beating faster, partly because I was scared that Adrian had already found out and was intentionally stalling to grab me at the company, and also because I didn't know if I had been recognized in the video.

I took a deep breath and stepped out of the car as I trotted my way to the company. I entered through the workers' section and slipped on my tag. I checked my phone again for any message, but there was none.

I tried to calm down, but my heart wouldn't listen.

I walked into my office to find a hot cup of coffee there, with Kendra nowhere in sight. I sighed, taking a sip as I slumped into the chair. I actually needed this coffee more than ever.

I decided to relax and distract myself with work and see if Adrian would call, but two hours passed, and still, there was no message.

I stepped out of the office and decided to check for myself what was actually going on. I reached his office sooner than I wanted and bit my lip as I stood there.

I took a deep breath before knocking on the door. I pushed the door open even though no sound came from the other side because Adrian always asked me to come in and not wait to be told when I came to his office.

I entered the office to find him standing by his floor-to-ceiling glass window.

As if sensing my presence, he turned around to look at me, and my spine straightened from his gaze. Something about the way he looked at me made my palms clammy.

Adrian continued to stare at me, and I stuttered, "Y-you didn't come back last night." Nothing. He still didn't break his gaze or reply.

"I was worried. I didn't receive any text or message from you either," I added, hoping for some reply, but he only stared hard before moving to sit at his desk, directly a few steps away from me, and folding his arms.

"Tell me, Ariana, what were you doing in the restricted part of the company?" Adrian muttered, and I froze.
