I wake up in Adam’s bed the next morning, before sunrise. I glance at his direction, and see that he’s fast asleep, breathing gently. I sit up on the bed for longs seconds, my mind racing. We both knew that this was a goodbye, even though neither of us wanted to say it out loud.     I lean in and place one last kiss on his forehead, so soft that it doesn’t wake him. “Goodbye,” I whisper, even though I know he can’t hear me.      I quickly wear my clothes and tiptoe out of his room, leaving the house. I find my way back to my hotel room before anyone else was up. It pains me to think about how I was never going to see Adam again, and it makes my mind and soul suffer to think about how I betrayed Diana.
