I gulped in horror as Mother was looking between the pair of us with that judging look in her eyes that made you want to run away from her, afraid of what she must tell you next.      “Hello,” she said with her cold gazed turned upon Adam, giving him the fake sweet smile the way she always did around the people she didn’t like. “And who are you?”      “I-I’m Adam,” he stammered slightly.
