Chapter 7 – The Horror

587 Words
Three days. I haven’t left this place in three days. I have been here three days and already my life has taken a change for the better. Everything I need is here: food, clothes, entertainment, and I haven’t had to sell myself or do unspeakable things for it either. We went shopping, to the beach and just all around out and about on the first day. Something that I could not do before, at least not safely. As much as I was loving my new life for the next two weeks, I was still on my guard. He is the devil after all. This can all be a ruse to get me to sign and then there be some underlying fine print that I didn’t see before I signed.   Being in my new and cozy pajamas, I plopped myself on my bed as I grabbed my candy and popcorn and turned on the television. I really had no idea what I was going to watch, but I would know it when I find it. I was flipping through the channels when I saw Lucifer limp passed my door in nothing but his shorts and a towel on his shoulder, heading to the shower. It took me a second to process the fact that he was going into the guest shower and not the one in his bedroom. I continued to flip through the channels as he heard him turn on the water and let out a groan that was almost unearthly. I thought it was odd, but I flipped through the channels a little slower, just listening to see if he was alright. I heard another groan; this one was more animal than man. I turned off the television and just listened. What is going on in there? I heard a loud sizzling sound and then a loud scream. I sprung from my bed and ran into the bathroom. He was there before me: red, beaten, and tattered. Half of the flesh on his face was ripped off and was exposed, a yellow liquid dripping from it. His hands and legs were partly burned, exposing muscle the water pouring down on him, washing away the yellow liquid down the drain. His breathing sounded feral, a cross between man and demon. His body heaved with every labored breath. I took a step into the bathroom and he held up his hand at me. ‘DO NOT COME NEAR ME!’ he bellowed. I froze. This was the Devil that I had learned about when I was alive. Before I could even move or say anything, he let out a wall shaking roar that shook me to my core and I ran.   Forget this! I thought to myself. I am out. I can’t do this. No! He’s the DEVIL! I ran to the elevator and pressed the button repeatedly, as if that would make it arrive faster. He let out another roar and then a whimper. He was in pain. I didn’t care. I was in my flight mode. I had to get out. As soon as the elevator arrived and the doors dinged, I leapt into it and started frantically pressing the lobby button. I was in such a panic, I didn’t see the man beside me walk out of the elevator as the doors closed. He bowed a small bow and that was the last I saw of him. I felt the elevator start on its way down. I fell back into the corner and just cried. Three days. It had been 3 days since I left that place. I don’t think I’ll go back.
