Chapter 7

Nate's P.O.V

It's Effie's birthday and I can't wait to see her, gramps decided we were having a big party for her this evening and I am looking forward to it even if I have never really been in public with my pack before I've always buried myself in the pack paperwork and my training than socialising because of my thirst, I wonder if people will gossip and feel ill will towards me or if I will be accepted with open arms. I feel full of excitement but the nerves are getting the better of me, I'm also still slightly worried I won't be able to control my desire for Effie's blood, the idea of hurting her is torturing me, I'm trying my best to contain it but what if my vampire gene is just too strong? 

Ariana comes walking downstairs with a big smile on her face “Good morning Natty” she says in a soft happy voice “Someone's happy this morning, could it be an afternoon with a dragon that's got you in such a good mood?” she immediately turns red and I laugh “No actually it's my besties birthday and she's about to become immortal like us, isn't it exciting” she says in a sarcastic tone and a smirk on her face “Touché” I say glaring at her “Talking of dragon's why are you allowing him to stay in a hotel?” she asks “It wasn't my idea Ari I offered him the guest room here within the pack house, he refused it because he didn't think it was fair forcing his presence on you” I could tell straight away her heart was warmed by his gesture, “Hmm okay" she says trying to hide her happiness "what is it?" I ask her "nothing" she barks out but I'm not convinced "Ari since when can't you talk to me?" she sighs and takes a deep breath "Is it because he's giving me my space or is it because he's not happy with his choice of mate?" she asks looking disappointed "Ari you need to trust him, your fey will be able to tell his true intentions you need to stop over thinking things and let your Lycan take control of the situation" I say she claps her hands and her face looks immediately more serious  "right I'll be back later I need to go see the birthday girl before I pop to the underworld with dad” she says, I look at her speculating “why are you going to the underworld?” I ask, but she taps on her nose and smirks. It's her way of telling me to mind my own business.

Strangely enough as soon as Ariana is gone, Allaric shows up looking a little worried. “Sorry I hope I'm not imposing” he says as he enters the kitchen, “No not at all, how are you Allaric?” I ask, “I'm good, can I talk to you about your sister?” he asks, a smile reaches my face “Of course you can, you've just missed her” I say, pointing to the living room, wondering if that was what he was waiting for. We walk through and take a seat “So what do you want to know?” I ask “You said she's a powerful witch? I know her demon side is strong too I have felt her aura, but what about her fey, lycan and oracle?” he asks looking slightly intimidated by her powers like so many other men “I take it you have never come across hybrid's like us?” he shakes his head “Her witch and demon powers come from our dad, she's extremely close to him and has harnessed those powers much more than her others, although her Lycan Selene and her are very close, her fey side and demon side prevents her from trusting people easy, she takes after our great grand father for that so I would be completely honest with her if you want to take her as your mate, she should rely on her oracle instincts more but she doesn't very often” he narrows his eyes.

“I heard your mind link conversation's yesterday I am impressed that you know so much about our kind, but fear not Nate I am no danger to you or your family, I can see your all very close and I can appreciate that I am very close to my flock too” he says, “I used to have lesson's as a child my aunt she taught me all she knows, Allaric will you please stay in our guest room, I'm sure you and Ariana will feel better being closer” I say but he shakes his head “No, thank you for your hospitality but I want Ariana to trust me and I think being so intrusive to her personal space might not help, her Lycan has took to the mate pull I can feel it but her fey and demon side are fighting it” he says, I nod my head “Yeah Ariana isn't the easiest to win around, but I could tell from the way she asked me this morning why you weren't staying with us she doesn't feel like your a stranger anymore” Allaric smiles “I hope so Nate I think we will become great friend's, I like how you look out for your sister and I promise I will never lie to her or hurt her” I appreciate his honesty and so does Felix.

After a lengthy talk with Allaric about his heritage and clarifying some lessons I've been taught I decide it's high time I go see my own mate, "please excuse me Allaric it's Effie's birthday today and I need to go give her the present I brought" he smiles "bye Nate, tell Ari I will be at my hotel until later and will meet her at the party" he says shaking my hand "will do" I leave the pack house and see Allaric flying over head, he's very large in his dragon form and to think my sister's going to be mated to him scares me a bit, but then I'm probably more of a monster than him. I knock on the front door and Lana answers “Nate it's great to see you” she says pulling me in for a hug, I smile “You too Lana, I've come to give Effie her birthday present” I admit as I walk through her living room, there house is laid out a lot like ours but slightly smaller, Brett comes out of no where “I bet you are” he says ruffling my hair and laughing, Lana rolls her eyes and hits him in the stomach “Knock it off Brett, she's up in her room Nate” she says, as Brett shouts up “Leave the bedroom door open no funny business in my house even if you are a god I will kick your ass” I hear him groan in pain again, I'm pretty sure that Lana's hit him again which makes me smile.

I approach Effie's room and feel so nervous and anxious, my stomach is doing summersaults and i feel grateful I didn't have breakfast today with gramps being so busy setting up for her party, I lift my hand to knock but hesitate.  The door swings open before I pluck up my courage to knock “I smelt you” she says eyes wide open, I see her smile and I feel a mess inside she is truly beautiful “I brought you a present” I say as she grabs my shirt and pulls me into her room. Before I can say anything else she kisses me passionately and the kiss feels so much different to our last one the tingles are much more intense and heat spreads through my body, goosebumps dance along my skin and I can feel myself trembling slightly I can feel her wolf too. She pulls back and her eyes are swirling gold and blue which gives me some relief, she feels it. I try to speak but I can't the words evaporated so I pass her the present I have in my hand, she pulls me to her bed to sit down with a huge smile painted on her face. As she opens it, her eyes light up and it makes me feel proud that she will be mine “Ariana told you” she says, I nod “She did yeah do you like it?” I ask, “I love it, will you help me put it on?” she asks as she pulls her hair forward showing me her bare neck, I take a deep breath and she realises my frozen figure, I can see the blood pumping through her veins I can taste it in my mouth I can picture myself bathing inside it and I feel and uncontrollable urge to bite down into her pretty neck “Oh I'm so sorry Nate” she says moving her hair back and moving away from me, I try to shake away the delirious side away, I need no I want to get over the craving's I can't keep freaking out every time I see her blood rushing through it's veins “No it's okay, I can do it” I say, standing up I slide her hair softly away skimming her skin with my fingers enjoying the way the tingles dance along our touch leaving goosebumps in place of my contact. I place the necklace and close the clasp, as I do I kiss her neck gently before stepping back.

She faces me with a complex expression “You're controlling it?” she asks suprised, “Barely” I admit she bites her lip and cups my face “Nate remember you can't hurt me, once we've mated I will be immortal too” as she says this I feel the desire for her taking over, I give in to it and kiss her deeply, the kiss is hungary, yet delicate and I know I wont be able to resist her taste every time I kiss her “Bite me Nate” she says, pulling me towards her neck, “I can't Effie” I say breathless, “You can, you wont hurt me” she says moving her hair from her neck, she pulls me towards it. My whole body is trembling, electricity floods through me and I can feel Izaek at the surface he desperately wants to mark her. I kiss gently down her neck making Effie gasp and every part of my vampire gene wants to taste her, but I can hear Izaek growling lowly which gives me the strength to continue. I move towards her soft spot by her collar bone, her hands are tangled in my hair pulling me in closer, she's moaning lowly and I can smell her arousal and it's more intoxicating than her blood, I really want to taste her sweet nectar so much more than her blood. I bite down softly with my Lycan canines and as her blood floods in my mouth it's a new kind of sensation, It tastes different to the last time I tasted her I don't crave it as much any more. I lick the wound to close it and pull away smiling that I no longer want her in that way, I can feel a different part of me stiffening.

She kisses me again smiling against my lips “You don't crave it any more do you?” she asks, “Not so much but I'm still addicted to you, just in a different way now” I say looking down at my ever growing bulge, she notices and starts laughing lightly “The feelings mutual” she says pulling me back into a kiss, my hands start trailing all over her body and I can imagine our bodies being bound to each other, the smell of her arousal growing stronger is a strong indication that she wants it all too much to her smell was what made me stiffen I'm worried if I grow any harder I'm going to explode I pull my mouth away from her and try to take back some control over my body before I pin her down and make her scream my name, Ariana pops into the room while were still holding each other luckily we had stopped kissing “this is awkward” she says laughing, Effie buries her head in my shoulder. “I take it she likes her present” says Ariana, Effie smiles but is blushing, I can feel my face heating up a bit as well realising that my stiffened friend is slowly going back to his limp state I clear my throat and decide it's time for me to take a cold shower “I'll go and give you guys some time together” I say kissing Effie on her cheek before I leave.
