I never thought one wild night would chain me to him.

He was supposed to be a tall, dark-eyed, scary stranger. But when I walked into the secret room of The Elysium Club, his look locked me in place like a brand. One night became a deal. One kiss became a sentence. One lie became my downfall.

Now he owns my debt, my time, and every lie I swore I’d hide. The wealthy predator who ruined my life is also the man who makes my body fail me with every touch. His world is silk and steel, where pleasure burns and deception cuts deeper than a knife.

I should hate him. I should run.

But every time he drags me into the dark, I taste the fire he’s hiding the pain, the rage, the twisted kindness. He wants forgiveness. I want payback. And yet our bodies keep writing a story our hearts can’t erase.

Until the night I learn the truth about his past and realize I may be falling for the man who destroyed everything I loved.

What’s more dangerous: his obsession…or mine?

Chapter 1 – Rain & Ruin
POV: Elena Rain hammered the glass like the world was trying to drown me. My phone vibrated on the desk, one last cruel shudder before everything fell. I read the email three times before the words stopped making sense. “Your employment with us is terminated, effective immediately. Consider this a final warning. Do not contact any clients.” I stared at the bright screen, numb. My boss’s name was at the bottom, along with a formal threat about “blocklisting.” Another vibration. A text message. Hospital billing department: Outstanding payment for Julian’s surgery. Immediate action is needed. A noise left my throat, half laugh, half sob, as I looked around, with so much in mind as a reason. I grabbed my coat and bolted from the building before anyone saw my face break. Rain poured so hard it blurred the lighting signs. My heels splashed through dirty puddles as I walked faster, almost running. My heart and everything in me are racing like one being chased by an unknown terrorist. The city lights spread like melted paint. My brother’s name pulsed at the top of the text screen. Julian. Sixteen years old. An innocent boy who had done nothing wrong except get sick. I whispered to myself, “It’s fine. I will fix it. I always fix it.” But tonight my hands were empty. No job. No money. No plan. “Why now?” I murmured under my breath, trying as much as possible to hold back the fear and pain. “Why, when he needs me most?” The rain answered with another icy slap. My mascara streaked like war paint. I ducked into a side alley to breathe. The alley smelled of wet stone and secrets. I shouldn’t be here. This was the edge of the business area, where the clubs had no windows and their doors had no names. A black car idled at the far end, the engine humming like a predator. Its darkened windows mirrored flashes of lightning. Then the door of The Elysium Club opened. Golden light spilled out, rich and warm, cutting through the cold rain like spilled champagne. A big man stepped out. Umbrella in one hand. A black suit fitted to his frame. No pause in his walk, as if the world bent around him. His eyes swept the alley once before he slid into the car. Even from a distance, I felt the pull of someone scary and impenetrable. My breath caught. “Adrian?” The name left my lips before I could stop it. I hadn’t seen him in two years. Not since the internship, not since he ruined my life the first time. He didn’t look back. The car door shut with a soft, deadly click, and the vehicle rolled away, leaving waves in the puddles. I pressed my back to the wall, heart pounding. Why was he here? The Elysium Club wasn’t just any place. It was where the strong came to trade things that weren’t meant to be bought or sold. And Adrian… he’d been the one who taught me how expensive friendship really was. A shadow moved near the club door. A man in a gray coat looked straight at me and raised his phone as if taking a picture. Flash. I flinched, turning my face. “Hey! What are you?” But he disappeared into the rain like he’d never been there. My phone buzzed again. This time, no number. Just a message: “You should not be here, Elena.” My stomach turned to ice. Only one person had ever used that tone with me, and he was meant to be worlds away. Sirens wailed somewhere behind me. I pushed off the wall and started walking, fast, my wet shoes clicking. Every sound was too loud. The city’s heartbeat pounded in my ears. I told myself it was a coincidence. I told myself Adrian hadn’t seen me. That no one cared. But then another message appeared: “Debt must be paid. You know where to find me.” I stopped dead in the street. “No,” I whispered. “No, not again.” I could still hear his words in my head from years ago: You can walk away, Elena, but someday you will come back. They all do. “I won’t,” I mumbled. “I’m not yours.” But the rain swallowed my words, and somewhere behind me a door closed with a heavy, final sound. I reached my flat an hour later, cold and raw. The hallway smelled like bleach and old paint. A single light glowed above my door, leaving long shadows. Everything inside was silent. Too quiet. My stomach ached with hunger, but the fridge was empty. I dropped my wet coat on the floor and sat on the edge of the bed. Julian’s picture smiled at me from the nightstand. His hospital tag lay beside it like a warning. “I’ll find a way,” I said softly. “Even if it kills me. I’ll keep you safe.” But deep down I already knew the truth. Some bills were bigger than love. Some men didn’t forget. A soft sound broke the silence. Paper sliding across the floor. I looked toward the door. Nothing. Then I saw a square of gold under the door. Not a flyer. Not a bill. An offer. Heavy paper, corners embossed, faint smell of smoke and sandalwood. My fingers shook as I picked it up. On the front, no address. Just a single crest, two mirrored wings crossed by a blade. On the back, in black ink: “Your time is up. Midnight. The Elysium Club.” My heart thundered. My brother’s hospital bills. My lost job. Adrian’s shadow in the rain. Everything led to one door. But as I looked at the gold invitation, another question rose in my throat, colder than the rain outside: What will I have to give up this time to save him?
