Hayley's pov.
“I am in need of a Luna, and you don't have a husband, so why don't you just sign the contract?” He snarled as he gazed at me before standing erect again.
Just then, I looked at the contract in his hand that was thrust in my way. He wasn't looking bad; he was more handsome than Jeff as it stood.
He wasn't lying too much about feeling the mate bond. He was my mate, and there was no way I could say no to getting married to my mate, not when Jeff had left me for Camilla, my foster sister.
Thinking about them made me sick; it made my fist tighten too. I never wished to be heartbroken, but I guess there are certain things we can't ignore.
Releasing a deep breath, I lifted my gaze to the man before me.
“I still don't know your name” I uttered, and with a smile on his face, he spoke up.
“I am Vincent Miller. Just Vincent!” He responded, making my brows crease immediately.
“Which pack are you from, and how did you get this rich?” I asked out of curiosity. If he didn't want money from me, it was obvious he was rich, so being just Vincent was weird.
“Once you sign the contract, my identity will be revealed to you... but until then, you are not allowed to know anything about me!” He noted it, and I felt it strange too, but I didn't know what to say.
At least, there was no doubt that Jeff and Camilla wouldn't be happy being together. With tears welling up in my eyes, I reached for the file.
I opened it, and without hesitation, I went through it. It was a three-year contract, which I could cope with.
“Aren't you going to sign it already?” He asked, pulling me out of my thoughts briefly.
“I have two conditions before I sign this, Vincent.” I said, lifting my gaze to meet him.
“Anything for you, pretty!” He said it with a sweet tone that sent thrills through every core in my body.
“One; we won't have sex.” I mentioned, which made him scoff.
“Two, no one is expected to know about this contract... We are married, and that's it! It won't be announced to the public, either! Is that acceptable?” I asked to be sure if he still wanted to go on with the marriage.
“I don't have any problems with your conditions, Hayley... Sign the contract, and I promise to make you the happiest Omega in the pack and beyond!” He asserted this, prompting me to sign the contract.
Finally signing the contract, I handed it over to him.
“Good girl… Now, let's go!” He urged himself as he climbed into the car, shutting the doors.
“Go? Where are we going?” I asked, confusion etched across my face.
“I'm going to get married! You are mine now, remember?” He reached and held my hand as a smile tugged at his lips.
I suddenly felt so timid sitting near him. I could feel a blush coming up on my face too.
The car soon zoomed out of sight the second Nathan climbed into it, and we headed for the marriage registry.
After what felt like eternity, we arrived at the venue, and just as I was about to open the door and climb out of the car, Vincent held my hand, halting me in my tracks. I immediately turned back to look at him.
“If he didn't have respect for you, I do. I won't want you stressing yourself!” He mentioned it as he climbed out of the car. He walked over to my door and opened it.
I tried to hide the thrill I felt, but it was written all over my face. The second I climbed out of the car and was about to head into the building with Vincent, a strong grip held me from behind, stopping me in my tracks.
“You left me at the altar just to be with him?” Jeff suddenly showed up, fury etched across his face as he yelled at the top of his voice.
“Let me go!” I pulled my hand out of his grip immediately. He irritated me at first sight, and I wondered why he was at the registry.
“I see you've got balls now, Hayley,” he scoffed as he slid his hands into his pockets. “You think you are mighty now because you have another man? Trust me, he'll use you and dump you because you are nothing but a weak, stupid omega!”
Jeff snarled through his gritted teeth as he glared at me. His words instantly provoked me, and I couldn't hold back the rage I felt.
Without a second thought, I lifted my hand and slapped him so hard across the face.
“How dare you talk to me that way?” I yelled at the top of my voice as I glared at him. He was shocked that I'd do such a thing to him.
He still held his face in confusion.
“Don't mind him, Hayley... Come on, let's go inside!” Vincent urged as he held my hand, but just as I turned on my heels again, Jeff grabbed my hand and tried stopping me violently this time.
“You are coming with me, Hayley!” He growled as he began to pull me towards his car.
“Let go of me, you lunatic!” I yelled as I struggled to break free from his grasp. Just then, Vincent, who didn't want to intervene at first, walked up to him, and with force, he gripped Jeff's wrist.
“f**k! You are going to break my arm!” Jeff wailed as his hand let go of mine. I bet Vincent's grip was tighter around his wrist.
“She is mine now; never lay your fingers on her... The second you do, I won't hesitate to make each finger pay!" Vincent tossed his hand off his grip, seeing that he had fallen on his knees.
“You think you've found a better person? Trust me, man, she'll hurt you! She'll leave you at the altar just as she left me!” He whined, trying to change Vincent's mind.
“It's not…” I was going to defend myself, but Vincent cut in.
“I'm not a loser like you, Jeff... I don't tend to treat her like you did!” Vincent uttered, making me stare at him in amazement. I thought he'd buy what Jeff was saying to him.
“You’ll find me back begging on your knees, Hayley, and I will never accept you back! You'll regret it for abandoning me at the altar!” He stated this before he stood to his feet and fled the scene.
I couldn't believe what he had just said; he was the one who had abandoned me by sleeping with my foster sister and tried to make me sign a different contract.
‘I'll never forgive you, Jeff!’ I said it inwardly cursed at him beneath my breath..
“Come on, don't think about him too much, Hayley... Besides, you have me!” Vincent's voice cut through my thoughts, and with a smile on my face, I followed him into the building.
We signed the register, and soon it was time for the lady to hand over our copies.
“Mrs. Hayley Miller?” She called out, and I responded. It was quite interesting to have a new last name.
“Alpha Vi…” Before she could finish her statement, I noticed her immediate halt of words.
“Vincent Miller!” She called out.
I was sure I heard “Alpha Vincent,” but I wasn't sure why she had abruptly changed the name.
The second Vincent came back to meet me, I couldn't help but want to clear my curiosity.
“Can I ask you something, Vincent?” I started softly as I stared at him.
“Anything, my wife...” He smiled, pinching my cheeks slightly.
“The lady in there called you Alpha... Does this have anything to do with your identity?” I asked, awaiting his response this time.
There was no way I was mated to an Alpha, right? There was no way I had just signed a marriage contract with an Alpha.
“She...” he pursed his lips, keeping me in the dark for a split second.
