NEW BEGINNING
As they entered the town of Briston valley, Alexander couldn't help but feel a sense of resentment. His mother had promised him that their move from the city would be temporary, just until she got back on her feet. But as they drove further into the quaint town, he realized this wasn't just a brief pit stop. Isabella, on the other hand, was admiring the beauty of the town. The greenery, the small houses, and the friendly people made her feel at ease. She leaned over to Alexander and said, "Don't you think this place is charming? I could get used to it here." Alexander just grunted in response, staring out of the car window, unimpressed. Their mother, Maria, noticed Alexander's sour mood and put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I know this wasn't what we planned, but I promise you'll love it here. It's a fresh start for us, a chance to rebuild and start anew." Alexander didn't respond but he knew his mother was right. They had to move on from their father's passing, but it wasn't easy for him to let go of the memories they shared in their old city. As they drove through the town, Maria pointed out some of the local landmarks and businesses. They passed by a charming bookstore, a cozy cafe, and a bustling town square. The town had a serene vibe, a drastic difference from the city's chaotic atmosphere. Finally, they arrived at their new home, a cozy little house with a white picket fence and a small garden. It was a far cry from their old city apartment, but it had a certain charm to it. As Maria unpacked their belongings, Alexander went to his new room and slumped on the bed, feeling lost in this new environment. Isabella, however, was already outside exploring the garden and admiring the view. As the sun began to set, Maria called them both for dinner. As they sat at the table, enjoying a home-cooked meal, Maria said, "We may be starting over, but we're doing it together. We'll make new memories here and create a new home." Alexander and Isabella exchanged a glance, feeling a glimmer of hope in their hearts. Maybe this new town and new home wouldn't be so bad after all. As they finished unloading the last of their boxes, Alexander and Isabella collapsed onto their beds in their new room. Alexander's eyes were red and puffy from holding back tears, while Isabella looked at ease, already unpacking her belongings. "This place sucks," Alexander muttered, staring at the blank white walls. "Don't be so negative," Isabella replied with a sigh. "It's not so bad here. We can make new friends and start fresh." "It's not that. It's just... Dad should be here. He should be helping us move in, not stuck in some war zone." Isabella's expression softened as she put down her clothes and sat next to her brother. "I know, Alex. I miss him too. But we have to be strong, for Mom and for ourselves. Dad wouldn't want us to be sad all the time." Alexander nodded, wiping away a stray tear. "I know. It's just hard. Everything is changing so fast. I wish we could go back to how things used to be." "I know," Isabella said quietly. "But we can't. We have to keep moving forward. And who knows, maybe this town will surprise us. Maybe we'll find something here that we never knew we needed." Alexander looked at his sister, feeling a glimmer of hope. "Maybe you're right," he said. "Let's give it a chance." With a small smile, Isabella leaned over and hugged her brother. "We'll get through this together," she said. As they sat in silence for a few moments longer, the sun began to set over the quiet town of Briston Valley, casting a warm orange glow through the windows. Though it was just the beginning of their new life, the twins knew that they would always have each other, no matter what challenges lay ahead. As Alexander went to his room to unpack, Isabella helped their mother in the kitchen with the dishes. She dried each plate and bowl with care, trying not to break any of them. "So, how was your first day at work, Mom?" Isabella asked, trying to start a conversation. "It was good, a bit overwhelming with all the new faces and procedures to learn," their mother replied. "But I'm excited to be working as a nurse again. It's been a while since I last worked at a hospital." "I'm glad you like it. You deserve to do something you love," Isabella said with a smile. Their mother nodded, then added, "It's also a good opportunity for us to meet new people and make friends in this town. We could use some support, especially after what happened to your father." Isabella's smile faded, and she looked down at the dish in her hands. She missed her father every day, and she knew her brother did too. "Yeah," she said softly. "We could use some friends." Their mother put a hand on her shoulder. "We'll get through this together, okay? We're a strong family." Isabella nodded, feeling a bit better. She was grateful for her mother's support and love. She finished drying the dishes and put them away, then went to check on Alexander. As Alexander unpacked his clothes and belongings, he stumbled upon the family portrait they had taken before their father's death. In the photo, his father had a big smile on his face, his arm around their mother, while Isabella hugged them from behind and Alexander stood beside them with a serious expression. Alexander stared at the photo for a long moment, feeling a pang of sadness in his chest. He missed his father so much, and he wished he could talk to him or hug him one more time. "I miss you, Dad," he whispered to the photo. "I hope you're proud of us." He took a deep breath and straightened up, determined to make the best of their new beginning in Briston Valley. He knew it wouldn't be easy, but he also knew that his father had taught him to be strong and resilient in the face of challenges. "Let's do this," he said to himself, then turned to finish unpacking his things. As he put his clothes in the dresser, he heard Isabella's knock on his door. "Hey, can I come in?" she asked. "Sure," he said, and she entered his room. She noticed the family portrait in his hands and walked over to him. "I miss him too," she said softly, putting a hand on his shoulder. Alexander nodded, feeling grateful for his sister's empathy. "Yeah," he said. "But we have to keep going, right?" "Right," Isabella agreed. "We're in this together." Alexander smiled at her, feeling a bit better. He put the portrait on his nightstand and said, "Let's go explore the town. Maybe we'll find some cool places to hang out." Isabella grinned. "I'm in. But first, let's go see what Mom is up to." They left the room together, ready to start their new life in Briston Valley with hope and determination.
