The policeman raised his radio and called for backup, as well as the paramedics. Then he turned back to Lut, frowning darkly. “You’ve got five minutes to get him out of there, or my boys go in. Right now he’s looking at a serious assault charge, and if the ambulance doesn’t get here soon, it will be murder. Understood?” Lut swallowed thickly and nodded. He passed through the shattered wall, and then stood still, appalled at the condition of the kitchen. Mold and mildew had eaten away the wallpaper, and left the ceiling partially collapsed.
