Chapter 2

ALICE'S My car zoomed through the highway as I struggled to hold back my anger and the urge to tear apart everything and everyone in my sight. I took a few deep breaths to calm myself while my claws slowly dug into the steering wheel. It took everything in me not to turn back and tear them apart just as they had done to me with their betrayal. But I needed to see how deep their betrayal runs first; therefore, I stopped my car in front of Greenwood's headquarters. I strode into my office and turned on my computer before dragging my seat closer to the table. With trembling fingers, I pulled up Greenwood’s surveillance archives. My wolf prowled under my skin, restless, her growl vibrating in my ribs. "Watch," she urged, "See what they’ve done to us." I pressed play. The conference room flickered to life on the screen. There they were, Alex and Emily together. Their bodies angled close under the pretense of “discussing PR plans.” How foolish was I to hire Emily as the PR manager at the behest of my adoptive parents, whom I had also foolishly given a position on the board of directors because I valued them so much. The fact that they had adopted me and given me an identity within the clan had meant so much to me. I was a discarded orphan when they had taken me in and given me their name, and I was so grateful for that I let them treat me however they wished. And I was so scared of being disowned and losing my identity that I took in everything they dished out humbly. And now the results of my indulgence played in front of me and seemed to stab me in the eyes. I struggled to keep on looking at the screen as the scenes changed from simple flirtations to full-blown s*x. The thought of having conducted meetings in the same conference room where they did such nasty things or having parked my car in the garage that they left traces of their betrayal left me nauseous. As if that isn't bad enough, there is footage of Jack and Lucy walking in on them, and all Jack does is warn them not to get caught. At this point, I am starting to feel numb. Therefore, I hurriedly skipped the footage and accessed the financial accounts that Jack and Lucy were in charge of. I felt my head spin as the discrepancies in the recorded numbers became clear to me, especially the doubled PR budget, which I never approved. This means not only were they aware of the cheating, but they were also stealing from me to fund Emily's posh lifestyle that she so proudly displays on her social media accounts. So disgusting! No wonder they didn't seem surprised on the stage, since not only did they know about the cheating, but they also helped conceal it. I don't know if they can stoop any lower than this. Bang! Well, apparently they can, cause Alex dares to bang open my office, after I just found out about his betrayal. "Alice, I can explain......" I raised a hand and stopped him before turning the computer to face him. "I am not sure you can explain this! I snorted coldly whilst playing a video of him balls deep in Emily. "It's.... it is not what it looks like," he murmured. I raised my eyes at him sharply, "Oh no, I think it is what it looks like." "Alice, don't be difficult, it was just a mistake," he replied, dropping the act. "Oh, really? Am I being difficult?" I demanded coldly as I turned the computer back to myself. "Sister, Alex never meant to hurt you; he was just lonely after all, you are so busy all the time," Emily's high-pitched voice rang out in the room. So the dog bought his b***h with him? "Oh, sorrows, prayers, I understand he was so lonely that he couldn't help but f**k my slut of a sister," I remarked mockingly. "Sister, can you please grow up? An Alpha needs a companion who can be by his side at all times, not a 'workaholic' obsessed with the company," she preached shamelessly as she wrapped her arms around him. I smirked coldly while Alex nodded as if to agree with her. I chuckled and turned my gaze away from the pair of clowns and diverted my attention to my keyboard. Well, if he doesn't want a workaholic, then he shouldn't have her company and money either. My fingers flew across the keyboard, command after command, and I felt the power of it in my bones. With a few strokes, Greenwood’s liquid assets froze. Accounts locked. With another, the core technical data and the coordinates of the Pack's territories, the lifeblood of everything I’d built, vanished into encrypted oblivion only I could retrieve. The system confirmed my commands with a chime, sharp and final. "Sister acting busy will not change the reality. Alex found happiness in me that you denied him, and from now onwards, Alex, Greenwood, and the Pack will be mine. I hope you can be understanding and step down," her high-pitched voice sounded once more, drawing my attention. I smirked while leaning back in my seat, "Is that so?" "Yes, it's time you leave this company and Pack in my hands and step aside," She demanded confidently. If I didn't know better, I would think she was the one who set up this company. "Well, since you are so confident, then it will be wrong not to leave," I stood up while announcing. A wide smile blossomed on her face as I took off the silver necklace symbolizing my identity as a pack member and dropped it on the table. I then looked between them, my voice steady, cold, unrecognizable even to me. “I am no longer a member of the Silver Moon Pack.” Without another word, I walked past them, out the door!
