ALICE'S My heels clicked on the marble floor sharply as I hastened towards the event hall while flipping through the file in my hands once more. I know, I know it's the umpteenth time I am checking it, and I should probably stop like I promised myself like 10 checks ago, but every time I think about what it means, I can't stop myself. I nervously took a deep breath and closed it once more, and strode towards the hall where the 10th anniversary party of Greenwood was being held. Tonight is Greenwood’s night. Ten years. It has been ten long years since I founded the company with a little more than an idea and relentless determination. Ten years of sacrifices, of early mornings and sleepless nights, of proving myself in boardrooms where no one expected me to last. Greenwood Biotech is now a name that commands respect, and tonight we celebrated its anniversary with a hall full of allies, competitors, and opportunists. And as the CEO, I probably shouldn't be this late for my own company's anniversary; however, I had the idea of drafting these documents last minute, hence my late arrival. Though I am not worried since I have an efficient team that will handle the situation without me, and it's one of the things I'm most proud of. Therefore, I purposely strode towards the hall and made my way in. The moment I stepped in, I drew a few looks while the rest remained focused on Alex's speech. I nodded at that and discreetly made my way to the wings of the stage, where Alex was giving the speech I had stayed up all night writing for him. His eyes drifted to me for a second before he turned back to the crowd and continued speaking confidently. I beamed at him with pride and shook the file in my hand slightly. Alex has grown so much from a young, playful werewolf to a strong and capable Alpha. Yes, you heard it right! Today is not only Greenwood's 10th anniversary but also the day Alex takes over from his father the position of the Alpha of Silver Moon Pack. However, since we are in a human society, the Alpha ceremony has been done secretly. Anyway, I noticed Alex is about to finish his speech, and I started walking towards him in order to stop him from leaving the stage. After all, I have not yet given him the surprise I had prepared for him. I opened the file once more and skimmed through the share transfer document that I painstakingly prepared for him. Yes, I am transferring ten percent of my shares to Alex in order to solidify his position as the Alpha and co-founder of Greenwood, and I will also announce our mate bond. So I managed Greenwood during the day and protected Silver Moon Pack at night as a warrior. And due to that, I am still a virgin at 28, but that is going to change tonight because I am going to announce our relationship and take it to the next level. I smiled at the thought and gracefully stepped towards Alex when a figure in white dashed from my side and beat me to it. And before anyone could say anything, she snatched the mic from Alex. It took me a minute to realize it was my sister, Emily. I squinted my eyes in confusion. I know she was spoiled, but I didn't expect her to act up at such an important occasi...... "Alex, our child needs a father!" She screamed into the mic and waved two pieces of paper in the air. I froze and turned my gaze to Alex, who looked equally taken aback. I stepped closer to him and asked coldly, "What is she talking about?" Before he could reply, Emily swayed slightly to his side, and he hurriedly grabbed her waist to stabilize her. Crack! I could literally hear my heart break into a million pieces because the way he naturally holds her and the way she is leaning into him, like she does it everyday, tells me everything I need to know. Thud. The file slipped from my hands and thudded on the marble floor while my vision tunneled. The room spun, but my wolf surged awake in the darkness, a storm of claws and fangs demanding blood. "Rip him apart." Her snarl rattled in my skull, hot and savage. I forcefully suppressed her as my pain slowly transformed to anger. My nails slowly lengthened into claws as I inched closer to them, ready to ruin them, when a strong hand grabbed my arm. I halted, ready to murder whoever dared to stop me. "Alice, don't make a scene. Today is an important day," Jack, my adoptive dad, whispered in my ear. Of course, he is here to defend his biological daughter! I slowly turned to face him. "You are ok with this?" I questioned whilst trembling. "Why not? We raised you, the least you can do is let Emily be happy," he nonchalantly admitted. I genuinely felt disgusted with him as he continued," If you dare confront them, I will disown you." I shook his grip off and drifted my eyes to Lucy, my adoptive Mom, who just stood behind him while wiping her tears and shaking her head at me. I turned my gaze away from her, genuinely loathing the fact that I am related to them. I turned to Alex as I picked up the file. "I hope it was worth it!" I spat and slowly opened the file. I removed the papers and threw them aside. I waved the papers in front of his face and made sure he saw the contents before I shredded them into a million pieces. I scattered the pieces and turned to leave while he scrambled to collect them. The media flocked to me as I left, but I avoided them with my super speed as my wolf seethed with me while I whispered the only promise that soothed us both.... I will make them pay!
