CHAPTER FOUR
“Seven?” Brandon Gill stood at the doorway of Seven’s 40th floor office at LX Energy the next morning. “Earth to Seven.”
“Huh?” Seven jerked from the memory of Kaya’s warm, soft skin cloaking him. “Brandon.” He straightened in the suede recliner, clearing his throat. “How long have you been standing there?”
“Long enough to realize you got something else on your mind.” Brandon walked onto the aqua blue rug, which softened the luxurious, chestnut-brown space. “My guess is this has something to do with a woman.”
Seven flicked a ball in the Newton’s Cradle on his desk. “Why do you say that?”
“Let’s see.” Brandon tilted his 6-foot body forward, his midnight blue eyes dancing. “I’ve known you since we were kids. I can tell when a woman is on your mind.”
Seven laid his chin on his desk, staring at Moon Glow which hung by the ceiling-to-floor windows. “I met her yesterday.”
Brandon’s raven black curls glimmered with sheen. “Who?”
“The woman of my dreams. The woman I’ve been dying to get close to all this time.”
“That artist?” Brandon pointed to the painting. “No shit.”
“I went to her showing last night. Our eyes locked the minute I got into the museum.”
“I don’t get this fascination you have over her.”
“That’s because you are an uncultured swine.” Seven wobbled his head. “You hate art and refuse to expand your mind about it.”
“I don’t hate it. Art’s just not my thing.” Brandon shifted his weight. “I mean, this painting just looks like a bunch of swirls and stuff. All these hoity toity people claim anything on a piece of paper is ‘art’.” He rolled his eyes. “I see nothing but globs of colors.”
She’s incredible.” Seven rocked. “We had s*x right there in the museum.”
“Bullshit.” Brandon covered his mouth, guffawing. “No fuckin’ way.”
“Oh we did.” Seven sucked his bottom lip. “Then we had s*x at her place.” He moaned, gripping his crotch. “I never wanted a woman so bad.”
“Are you serious?” Brandon sat on the edge of the desk. “This woman who doesn’t even know you screwed your brains out right there at the museum?”
“Her skin’s so soft.” Seven stroked the thighs of his pants. “I can still smell and taste her and feel the hairs on her pussy.”
“TMI.” Brandon held his arms out. “You need to be careful. You can’t forget how many women would love to get their hooks into your family’s money.”
“She’s different.”
Brandon stood, straightening his slim-fitting blazer. “That’s what you said about the last eight chicks you were with.”
“If she wanted my money I wouldn’t care. I’d give anything to make this last.”
Brandon put his hands in his pockets, wiggling his straight nose.
“What’s your deal?”
“What woman has s*x with a man she hardly knows?”
“One that felt the undeniable, smoldering attraction I did.” Seven squinted. “Neither of us planned it but it’s hard to explain. Haven’t you ever met a woman who consumed you to the point of insanity?” He made a fist. “To where you didn’t care if things made sense or not, you had to go along for the ride?”
Brandon swallowed, his angular cheekbones widening.
“This isn’t a onetime thing. I’ve wanted her since I heard of her art.”
“You might be sincere but what about her?” Brandon’s dimples disappeared. “How do you know she isn’t using you?”
“She’s not.”
“All right.” Brandon stood back, shaking his head. “Sounds like she could be bad news, but I got your back.”
“If you met her you’d see how genuine she is. Are you still coming to my parents’ Saturday night for dinner?”
“Of course.” Brandon smiled. “I love hanging with your folks.”
“I’ll invite Kaya.”
“You just met this girl.” Brandon’s face drooped. “Isn’t it too soon to be taking her home to mommy and daddy?”
“Physically we just met.” Seven got out his smartphone. “Spiritually, we’ve known each other for a lifetime.”
