Episode 3: Public Rejection

442 Words
The night of the annual pack gathering was meant to be a celebration. Wolves from neighboring territories filled the grand courtyard, their laughter mixing with the scent of roasted meat and the steady thrum of drums. It was a time of unity, of showing strength as one. But for Aria Blackwood, the evening felt like walking into a storm she could not escape. Her wolf stirred within her chest, restless and wary. Since her awakening on her birthday, she had been unable to silence the bond pulling her toward one figure—the Alpha heir. When he entered, the noise dimmed. Tall, commanding, with an aura that demanded attention, the heir was the living image of dominance. Whispers followed him, words like “future Alpha,” “power unmatched,” and “the chosen one.” Aria’s heart clenched. She knew. She felt it deep in her soul—he was her mate. Hope sparked in her, fragile but fierce. She stepped forward, her voice steady though her hands trembled. “You’re my mate,” she whispered, the words carrying just far enough for those nearby to hear. The courtyard fell silent. Dozens of eyes turned their way. For a moment, time seemed to stop. Then, his laughter shattered everything. Cold. Cruel. “You? A nobody? You dare claim me as your mate?” His voice carried across the gathering, sharp enough to cut through the night. Gasps and murmurs rippled through the crowd. Aria’s face burned, but she stood her ground, refusing to bow her head. Her wolf whined, wounded by the rejection that was still unsaid but already written in his tone. He stepped closer, towering over her, his eyes glinting with disdain. “I reject you,” he declared. Each word slammed into her like a hammer. “You will never stand beside me. You are unworthy of an Alpha, let alone me.” The pack roared with shock. Some looked at her with pity, others with mockery. Aria’s chest tightened, her breath ragged, but she forced herself to stand tall. Inside, her wolf howled in pain, yet something stronger flickered to life—an ember of defiance. She would not beg. She would not crumble before them. Her voice, though trembling, cut through the chaos. “You may reject me, but one day, this pack will see me for who I truly am.” The Alpha heir smirked, dismissing her as though she were a shadow. The gathering resumed its noise, but for Aria, the world had shifted. Her path was no longer tied to him. Her rejection, though brutal, would become the fire that forged her destiny.
