Epilogue

224 Words

Epilogue London, September 2015 It was always at around 4 a.m. that Eleni would wake up unexpectedly with Martin’s voice echoing in her ears like a bell ringing rhythmically at a funeral to signify somebody’s passing away. She could never quite catch what he was telling her, but she knew it made sense to her. Yet, by the time she was fully awake, he was gone again. Being woken in the middle of the night did not stress her out as much any more. Chloe was a settled little girl now, ready to go in the morning and always happy to greet her friends at the school gate. As for Nostos, the baby boy she had thought she would never have, he had liked his sleep from early on, so she was not worried that he would disturb her for the rest of the night, on the rare occasion she had visits like that.
