..Blake POV....
"Start talking." My mom said tightly.
"Esarie said her wolf wouldn't want her because she is too temperamental." Hadley gushed out in a single breath. Our parents looked absolutely appalled while Esarie hugged herself and huffed. "And we all laughed." She continued before she looked down in embarrassment. I looked up at my mom who had her hand over her mouth as tears escaped her eyes.
"Esarie, why would you say something like that?" My dad asked pulling my mom into his side.
"I don't know!" She said loudly. "It just slipped out."
"I'm so disappointed in all of you. Esarie, you should know better than to say something like that. Paxton, Indigo, Hadley, Talia and Blake, I can't believe you just laughed." My dad said shaking his head sadly. "I think it's time we all head to sleep, we'll deal with this in the morning." I nodded and walked to my room, I walked in and layed down, but I couldn't sleep with the guilt and shame eating away at my stomach. I got up after a few hours and went to Riley's door and tried opening it only to find it locked. I sighed and grabbed the key she kept "hidden" in the living room in her favorite movie case, once the door was unlocked I put the key back and walked into her room.
There was a lump in her blankets where she was undoubtedly sleeping. I crawled into the bed beside her and held my little sister close, she stirred in her sleep and look up at me with eyes full of emotions, none of them pleasant.
"Go away." She said before turning her back to me.
"I'm sorry Ry." I said softly, she looked back at me and frowned.
"Just leave me alone." My heart broke with the tone of her voice, she didn't even sound mad. My little sister just sounded empty. I shook my head and held her tighter, until she got up and slipped out of her bed. "Fine stay here." With that she left the room, I heard my door close and I sighed. We really f****d up.
.....Riley POV.....
After the incident I didn't talk to my siblings for over a month, luckily it wasn't that hard seeing as my parents let me go stay with Papa Flint and Grandma Mer. I stayed there for around two and a half weeks, let's just say Papa Flint wasn't too happy with any of my siblings. As the doctor predicted I got a scar from my run in with the barbed wire, the scar started a centimeter away from my eyebrow, split in in two skipped my eye socket and went down to just below the bone under my eye. The wound healed quickly, two weeks which for a normal human would have been nearly a month.
The day all of us quints turned 14, we shifted for the first time. It was just after midnight, when I felt the first jolt of pain. Not expecting the shift until the next year I ran out to the backyard in a mild state of panic. I cried out when my back snapped leaving me paralyzed on the ground, my legs went next, snapping and reforming to accommodate my new form. My arms snapped and I felt hair begin to grow rapidly from every follicle on my body. My tail bone grew out breaking the skin of my ass causing me to scream once again, then my face shifted. With one last scream my human cries became wolf whimpers, I layed on the ground for a few minutes listening to the sounds of my family in the house.
I stood up shakily as my dad carried my brother who was half shifted out of the house. My mom came out next leading Indigo who was just starting her shift. Hadley and Talia were with Blake and Esarie who were looking at me in shock. Paxton began whimpering and I looked over at his white and light grey coat, he looked up and I tilted my head at the shimmering whiteness of his eyes. I heard people coming toward us and I growled, thunder boomed over head and lightning flashed down beside me. I yelped and fell over at the feeling of my fur standing on end from the sudden shock of nearly being hit by lightning. Uncle Xavier and Uncle Raider stood by the side of the house frozen in shock as they watched the events that were unfolding.
A sudden snowflake landed on my nose and I looked up as the temperature dropped by nearly 20 degrees. Snow began falling quickly, in the middle of June. I wobbled over to Paxton who's wolf was larger than mine by a head, he was watching the snow fall, he was mesmerized by it. Indigo's screams stopped and we looked over at her sandy tan wolf. She had sea blue eyes with some darker caramel hairs mixed in on her back. The snow that was laying on the ground melted and the water left behind began to swirl and pool itself at Indigo's paws.
When Hadley shifted her grey wolf with dark grey eyes got caught up in a furious wind that nearly swept the rest of us away. Talia's brown wolf with forest green eyes had a meadow growing at it's feet while usually timid animals ran up to her and wrapped them selves around her body. My parents and other siblings' mouths were hanging open as the entire scene unfolded. I ran to the back door once I felt confident in my abilities and looked at my reflection. My wolf was a strange grey almost blue color my eyes were the blinding shade of a lightning bolt. My paws were pure white as was my muzzle and underbelly. My left eye had the same scar as my human self, only it was covered in dark grey furs.
(Hello Riley.) A strong voice said into my mind.
'Hello' I replied smoothly. 'What is your name?' I asked my wolf.
(My name is Hazard.) She replied back to me
'Why did we shift early?' I asked her leaving the glass door and laying in the grassy back yard.
(Well, we are part Lycan, and we have elven magic in our blood.)
'Elven what now?'
(One of our ancestors was a forest elf with magic abilities, we just happen to be the generation that unlocked the ability to use that magic.)
'What about Blake and Esarie?' I asked looking at them as they talked with our parents.
(They're full bred lycans unlike the rest of us. They already had too much power to be able to wield the elements properly.)
'So we quints have magic to make up for our lack of lycan-hood?'
(Yep.)
'And my parents don't know about this?'
(Nope.) I groaned inwardly at the thought of having to explain this to my parents. (We can tell them later though. I would like to run.) I nodded and stood up on all four legs and stretched. I barked at the rest of the quints and motioned for them to follow me, which they did.
Hazard took the reins and we ran all over the territory bonding with one another, each of us connecting with our wolves and with one another. Paxton and I stayed at the front, Indigo, Hadley and Talia trailed behind us. When we got home it was already 8 am, I began the shift back which was painful, but not nearly as bad as the shift into my wolf. Once I was back in human form I looked at my siblings and froze. Before our shift we were all practically identical with dark black hair, brown eyes and pale skin like our dad's. Now we each looked like our own person, Paxton was even more pale, and his hair was white and his eyes were a pale silver color. Indigo was blonde and had skin the color of the golden sand on a Malibu beach, her eyes were the same ocean color her wolf had. Talia had pale beige skin with brown hair and honey colored eyes, Hadley has the same black hair and pale skin but with stormy grey eyes.
I ran to the glass door and took in my own appearance, my skin was a lighter golden tan then Indigo's but darker than the rest of my siblings, my hair was still black, but my eyes were a silver blue color that matched Hazard's coat color.
"Holy f**k!" I heard Paxton exclaim as he looked in the door/mirror. We went into the house and pulled on some clothes before walking to the living room where our parents and other siblings were waiting along with our uncles and our Aunt.
"Soooo, are ye' gunna tell us what that was out there?" Uncle Raider said in his drool worthy scottish accent.
"Well according to my wolf Tsunami, we are part elf." Indigo said with a large smile on her face.
"Elf? Like work in Santa's workshop elves?" Uncle Christian asked.
"More like Legolas in Lord of the Rings." Paxton said evenly.
"Nerd." Hadley mumbled under her breath.
"Any whooooo, one of our ancestors had an affair with an elf and they had a pup, the gene possessing the DNA for the ability to use magic has been repressed until today." Talia explained before Paxton could retort. "Marble isn't aware of what side of the family the gene comes from, only that us quints can harness the elements seeing as we aren't full bred lycan, like Esarie and Blake."
"So we get full blood lycan wolves while you get magic powers?" Blake questioned raising an eyebrow.
"Yep." Paxton replied.
"So can you make potions or do spells like a witch?" Esarie asked.
"Whirlwind says no." Hadley said crossing her arms over her chest in a relaxed state.
"We can only preform elemental magic, each one of us has a different element." Paxton explained, "Our wolves are named in relation to their element as well."
"What is your wolf's name? Jack Frost?" Blake joked, my mom smacked him on the back of the head making the rest of us laugh.
"Ha ha very funny, and no his name is Glacier" Pax snorted.
"So we have, Tsunami, Glacier, Whirlwind, Marble and....what is your wolf's name Ry?" Uncle Xavier asked.
"Hazard." I said simply.
"So, you can control lightning?" My dad asked.
"That's what my wolf says." I told them, "plus I nearly fried Uncle Xavier when he walked up behind us."
"That is true ya wee devil." Uncle Raider said with a small fake angry glare.
"
