Broken Legacy

Chapter 9

.....Riley.......

The rogues did not stand down, in fact they moved closer while snarling at D'yavol and I. He towered over all of them in his 6 ft 4 human height, his muscles bulged under his dark black tee and his powerful legs and buttocks tensed in his dark jeans. I turned so we stood back to back, I shifted into my wolf shape as they began to attack. I fought my way through the window to the ground and summoned all the power I could. 

D'yavol jumped out the window and landed beside me as his red fur blazed like fire. Thunder boomed over our heads as lightning flashed in the sky, one bolt hitting my back. I roared and more strikes landed on the advancing rogues killing them instantly. More rogues burst into flame as D'yavol used his power. The wind picked up and snow began to fall. Water poured from the sky and froze the red eyed wolves, save for my mate in their tracks. 

I used my power to blow the now icicles to little cubes, D'yavol snarled as my dad's wolf came toward us, his eyes locked on my mate. I growled and bared my teeth at him as I rubbed myself under D'yavol's neck. 

(MINE) I growled into our familial link that clicked in my mind once they showed up. D'yavol made a small purring noise in his chest as he rested his head on my back. 

(He's a rogue.) My dad growled into the link. 

(No he isn't.) Paxton said as his wolf trotted over to D'yavol and mine. (Smell him dad.) My dad narrowed his green wolf eyes and sniffed the air. 

(Campfire, not burning flesh.) Blake added stepping up beside my dad, he gave a wolfish grin before walking over and bumping his head on mine, even with D'yavol snarling. Paxton did the same, as did the rest of my siblings save for Esarie who wasn't present. My mother came toward me but stopped when I sent a small growl her way. She put her ears back and my dad went over to comfort her, I blocked the link, not in the mood for a lecture. 

I looked at Paxton and began moving off after him, D'yavol walked beside me as we wandered a few miles to where four SUV's were parked. Pax and the rest of my siblings ran to their mates, grabbing the clothes handed to them. I was given clothes and shifted back hiding my body behind my mate. I went to the back of one of the cars and got clothes to fit my mate before returning to him. 

He nudged my face and I rolled my eyes before turning away, I heard him pull on his pants, I was about to turn to him when his strong arms wrapped around me from behind. I smiled when he rubbed his face into my shoulder. 

I looked at Paxton from my bubble of happiness, he smiled at me before he walked over. D'yavol sighed and let me go as Paxton reached us, I was pulled into his freezing embrace. Once he let go I stepped back into D'yavol's chest so he could warm me. 

"I missed you Ry." Paxton said looking me over. 

"D, this is my brother Paxton, aka Pax." I said putting my hand on D'yavol's arm. "The blonde is my sister Indigo, Talia is the brunette, also my sister, and lastly for now is Hadley, again my sister. My brother Blake is standing next to my parents." I said pointing to each one. "My siblings, Pax, Talia, Indigo and Hadley, and myself are quints." 

I felt him stiffen as he held me, his breath still warm on my neck. "You didn't tell him that before?" Paxton said sassily, he turned his chillingly blueish eyes to my mate. "Power to control fire....now it makes sense why none of us have that ability." I nodded and yawned, I had used most of my energy conjuring the massive storm during the fight. 

"You look tired little sis." Blake said as he strutted over. 

"I can still whoop your ass." I said as I yawned again. 

"Or you can wait until you are rested." D'yavol said as he lifted me up easily. "Which car?" Blake opened the door and we slipped in, Blake sat beside us with a charmingly evil grin. 

"Where is Esarie?" I asked him proceeded by another yawn. 

"She is taking care of the pups and Henry, who by the way is an asshole." I growled and he showed me his clawed up arms. 

"He just doesn't like you." I said leaning on D'yavol. My dad climbed into the drivers seat and my mom got in the passenger side. 

"Riley..." My mom started. 

"Don't." I said turning so I could look out the window. 

"We missed you kiddo." I heard my dad say. I huffed and turned to him, keeping my face neutral. 

"For now, then something is going to happen and guess who's going to be at fault automatically....Oh wait Riley is!" I turned back to the window as I rested on D'yavol who lightly caressed my arm. 

"Ry...."

"I don't want to hear it!" I growled as thunder rolled. 

"Settle." It was one word, but his voice calmed me down. "You are already tired, do not exhaust yourself completely. I have a feeling Henry would not be pleased." I chuckled and nodded on his chest. I closed my eyes as I listened to his heartbeat and took in his scent. 

I was woken up by a yowling sound and I opened my heavy eyes, I shivered not feeling D'yavol with me. The yowl sounded again and I groaned as Henry bumped his head on my chin. "I missed you too Henry." I cooed to my cat who purred as he licked my nose. I sat up clutching him to my chest, I looked around for my mate as I shivered again. 

"Looking for someone?" I looked at Indigo and ignored her as I continued my search. 

"D'yavol." I said out loud. 

"Who?" She asked, I looked back at her and raised a brow. 

"My mate." I said easily. "I came back with him." 

"Paxton brought you back Riley. You exhausted your powers."

"I know, we were fighting blood rogues." I said as I stood up from the bed. 

"No we weren't." I set Henry down as I shivered, goosebumps rose all over my skin. 

"Yes we were!" I said as I began pacing. "I've been with him for a month!"

"What are you talking about?" Hadley asked as she came into the room in the dress from the gala. "You're awake, you scared us when you ran off last night."

"What do you mean.....I was with D'yavol." 

"Who?"

"He's my mate!" I screamed as I began pulling my hair, tears began running down my face. "Where is he?" I heard thunder boom outside but I paid no mind, I wanted what was mine. Hazard whimpered in my head as I paced around the floor. 

"You haven't met your mate yet Ry." Hadley said lightly. 

"Yes I Did!" I screamed. "He was here! He's tall with red hair and freckles! His name is D'yavol! Where is he?" I fell to my knees as I sobbed. I began hyperventilating as the storm outside got worse, that was when I looked down at my body seeing the purple dress from the gala on my body. 

(It was all a dream) Hazard whimpered. I screamed loudly causing more thunder to roll and Henry to hide under the bed. I fell silent as I stared numbly at the sky, tears wouldn't stop falling as I pictured the man in my dreams. 

"Riley!" I hardly heard my dad say my name as he ran into the room. I shivered as my vision became blurry. I felt arms wrap around me, as I just stared. 

'It felt so real.' 

......Paxton.....

I was laying in bed with my mate, the night before had been stressful, we finally found Riley back at the lake passed out next to the tree she had blown apart earlier. I smiled down at Laura who's grey eyes were closed as she slept. It was peaceful until I heard thunder boom overhead, Laura jumped up and I rolled out of bed pulling on clothes as I got ready to deal with my sister's anger. 

I only began running when I heard her scream, the loudest rumble of thunder I had ever heard shook the entire hotel. I ran to her room, when I got there she was on her knees, her purple dress was a silk pool on the ground. She was looking out the window, her arms were covered in goosebumps and her body shook like a leaf as she shivered. 

Hadley and Indigo were crying as they looked at her, our dad ran in with our mother right behind him. "Riley!" He pulled her into his arms and to our surprise she didn't fight him. She continued to stare, tears rolled down her face as heavy rains pelted the window. I grabbed my other two sisters and dragged them to the hall, our mother followed.  

"What happened?" I asked them. 

"She woke up looking for someone named D'yavol." Indigo said looking at the door. "She said he was her mate, she thought we had been fighting blood rogues, she described him and everything."

"When we told her what happened she lost it." 

"Did you say D'yavol?" Laura asked walking up and looking at my sisters.

"That's who Riley was looking for when she woke up. Who is he?" Indigo asked. 

"He's one of our warriors, he is extremely reserved. I've only seen him once."

"What does he look like?" Hadley asked. 

"Tall, pale, red hair, freckles." Laura said looking around as Alex, the mated wolf with a wife, walked over. 

"That's how she described him." Hadley said lightly. "You have to get him here, if he really is her mate Riley needs him."

"Who?" Alex asked looking at Laura. 

"D'yavol. Riley was looking for him when she woke up, she said she spent the past month with him." Alex ran his hands through his hair and sucked in a deep breath. 

"Skylark just called, D'yavol woke up this morning and started freaking out, he had to be locked in the basement." 

"We'll have to get Riley to him." My mother said. 

"I'll help dad get Riley pulled together, Mom can you please grab Blake?" She nodded as I kissed Laura on the temple and walked back in the room where Riley was sobbing into dads shoulder. 

"Come on Ry, let's clean you up okay?" She didn't make any move other than to shiver. 

"Why?" She whispered brokenly. I grabbed her from our father and brought her to the bathroom and Blake rushed in, he helped me get her undressed and into the shower where he washed her, the water was too hot for me. Once she was cleaned up we dried her off and brushed the snarls from her hair. 

"It'll be okay Ry." She didn't speak as she shivered and sniffled. 

"I'm cold." Was all she said. 

......Riley....

I was freezing, Pax and Blake took me back into the bed room and helped me get clothes on but I was still too cold to do more than shiver. "Riley." I looked at my mom as she walked in with uncle Lenny, I sucked in a cold breath, my teeth began to chatter as I shivered. I began to cry again, wanting my mate, wanting D'yavol. My mom pulled me into her arms as I continued to shake. "I'm so sorry baby."

"I'm so cold mamma." I told her as I continued to cry. I stopped calling her mamma after what happened with Esarie all those years ago. She gently rocked me like I was a little girl, after the time I spent in my dream being mad at her, I no longer could.
