PROLOGUE :How to forget you?
Months have passed since he left me to pursue his dreams. I still don't know what I did to make him change his mind so drastically, choosing to just abandon me out of nowhere. With every passing day and hour, I can’t stop wondering what I did wrong to deserve being cast aside like this. I put so much effort into being with him, even sneaking past my parents just to see him. I was ready to give him my entire life, just to be by his side. But why? Why could he just walk away as if everything we had meant absolutely nothing? "Let’s go, Jen," my friend called out, making me look up. I slowly walked over to her. "Are you okay?" she asked. I couldn't bring myself to answer. I just got straight into the car because, truth be told, that question was far too painful to answer. Once I was inside, she asked me again. "Are you still thinking about him?" Before I knew it, the tears I had spent a month holding back finally began to fall. "I still love him. But if loving him means feeling like this, I never want to love him again." In all my life, I never imagined I would be hurt by the very person I trusted with my heart for so long. "That's just how love is," she told me. "It makes you happy, but there are times it will still break you. Just because you're hurting doesn't mean you should give up. There are plenty of other guys in the world." Hearing those words from her suddenly jolted me back to reality. Maybe that person never truly loved me at all. Maybe he only brought me into his life because he needed something from me at the time. "I wish I had never loved or trusted him. I wish I hadn't given him my all," I replied. As the car moved along, carrying us toward our camping trip, I couldn't help but stare blankly out the window. I will forget you someday, I whispered to myself. But how do I begin to forget the person who gave me such a painful ending?
