PROLOGUE
As the crowd chanted and hailed their new queen, Lord Desmond Eddison—the Villain of the Century and Tyrant of Valtoria—watched from the shadows of the gallows. The noose hung ready. The executioner waited for the final command. The world would remember him as a monster. A monster who had kept the kingdom safe— but in his own way. They had never seen what he saw. And now, they were doomed. He stood silent, staring at the young queen as she awaited her moment of judgment. His lips curled into a satisfied smile, but his eyes remained cold—and quietly sorrowful. “Do you have any last words?” the queen asked. ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** Chapter 1: Welcome To Valtoria I was born into the royal family of this kingdom—Valtoria. I am the first son of King Eddison III. For the past two centuries, there has been peace in Valtoria. My great-grandfather, Lord Eddison I, fought brutal battles and won hard-earned wars to bring that peace. My grandfather, King Eddison II, inherited a land at peace—but he feared war could return at any moment, and so, he prepared for it obsessively. He did everything within his power to fortify the kingdom. He amassed horses, swords, and spears, and even acquired the latest technologies of his time. Under his reign, Valtoria began to develop rapidly. But the people loathed him for it. His obsession with security came at the cost of their well-being. Every last penny was funneled into weapons and defense while the people starved. They lived in fear, not of war, but of the hunger and hardship brought by his paranoia.
