Jace, with Merianne in tow, arrived at the club just in time to see Charlie and Ricky heading toward the dance floor. He almost turned and left. Probably would have if several of his friends hadn’t seen him and given a holler to let him know there was room at the table.
Still he debated, saying tightly to Merianne, “Why is he here with him?”
“Only one way to find out,” she replied, linking her arm with his to steer him to the table. “Grab a chair,” she added, snagging one as they went by a single table.
He did and they squeezed in between two of Jace’s crew. Reining in his need to know what was happening, afraid to learn the answer, Jace endured a couple of minutes of chitchat before finally saying, scathingly, to Pat, “So Ricky finally decided he’d make a move on Charlie.”
